I recently visited a local pub that left me with mixed feelings about my meal. Let’s start with the positives: the nachos were fantastic! The portions were incredibly generous, piled high with all the toppings you could ask for. There was a perfect balance of cheese, jalapeños, sour cream, and salsa. I liked how it was all served on a large tortilla! However, the guacamole served alongside was a bit of a letdown—it had a strange, almost plastic aftertaste that threw off the whole experience. The atmosphere in there was very warm and welcoming, with lots of lights and had a very cozy feel to it. I just also wished their was more attention to the entrance of the door as there were a lot of people waiting to be seated and no server was attending to them, most people don’t know if they are needed to seat themselves or someone will direct them, If anything a sign saying so would be nice! 👍

I also decided to try the French onion soup, which unfortunately didn’t hit the mark for me. The broth was way too concentrated, making it a bit overwhelming and less enjoyable than I’d hoped. That said, the Caesar salad was excellent—crisp, fresh greens with a perfect dressing-to-lettuce ratio, and plenty of parmesan. Overall, while some elements were a bit hit or miss, the generous portions and tasty nachos make it worth another try. I’d definitely visit here again and try some of the other delicious foods on their menu they have to offer!

Big portions. Absolutely excellent. When I'm on the Island again I'm coming here. We went after Butchart Gardens. It wasn't too far away from it.

The Prairie Inn has consistently provided me with a positive dining experience. The quality of the food is consistently high, and the wait staff is attentive and efficient. I have never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for my food, and I have always been pleased with the dishes I have ordered. The menu offers a diverse range of options to cater to different preferences, and they are particularly accommodating to individuals with celiac disease. Additionally, the restaurant frequently introduces interesting and innovative specials.

Everything is top notch here. Friendly servers, great food and a cozy atmosphere.

Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free options including chicken strips. It’s the first time I have ever had that in a restaurant. It isn’t marked in the menu as GF but the server told me about it. I was very impressed with it. Coleslaw was just like my mom used to make too. Great French fries and vegetarian burger.
