Their own beef and perfectly cooked local bacon, I’m sure the produce is from their farm as you can taste each individual component. “Fantastic service, with a smile. The Americano I had was as smooth as the cream I poured into it! No bitterness, and no biting aftertaste. They roast their own beans, so, unlike those American franchise places that burn the beans beyond recognition, these folks have mastered the fine art of crafting the perfect roast coffee bean.

Could change the name of that drink to a “Saanichtono”, to emphasize the localness of it all.

Bonus points for having a bike lock area!! I will be riding up here when winter ends. 🙂”

“Staff here are really really great, like the best honestly. Managment sucks tho, apparently I can't ask for extra crispy onions without paying extra even tho I get barely any other veggies, because the owner is too cheap to order more than a small box every few weeks. Honestly frequently don't eat here as often now as the sandwiches aren't as appealing with only a weak dusting of crispy onions. Bad move owner”

“Never been there before but its a quiet atmosphere didn't know what to think of it. But we ordered the Zoo sticks (zucchini sticks) the absolutely best and I travel all over Canada. Then we ordered the steak mashed potatoes and broccoli done to perfection 👌 and then to start on the drinks I had the rose sangria fizz not only was it beautiful to look at but my taste buds loved it too. Jesse our server/bartender easy going, attentive a great asset to that team and establishment. Next time I come through I definitely will be stopping over and over

“This was the busiest McDonald’s I’ve ever seen. I asked the lady to just cancel my order because I didn’t have time to wait. She was extremely helpful and kind and helped get my order rushed.

I feel so bad she (and everyone there) was clearly stressed from how busy it was. But she was very kind, professional, helpful. Filipina lady wearing a high-vis vest who was either a supervisor or manager, you are INCREDIBLE! 👏🏻”

“We had dinner at Alpina Restaurant at Villa Eyrie Resort and were completely captivated by the breathtaking panoramic views of Saanich Inlet, framed by rolling mountains, lush greenery, and endless blue skies. Between the spectacular scenery and the outstanding cuisine, it was hard to decide which was more memorable!

We began with the rye sourdough bread, served with whipped butter and an apricot-cardamom butter. It was a simple yet elegant combination that we had never experienced before and absolutely loved.

For our mains, we enjoyed a roasted rainbow carrot salad with greens, feta, grains, and other flavorful toppings that made every bite delicious. The pesto pasta, finished with candied pistachios and a generous burrata, was an incredible combination of creamy, nutty, and herbaceous flavors. The seared tuna was perfectly cooked and served with fresh greens, while the grilled lingcod was flaky, moist, and delicately flavored, accompanied by tender beans cooked with tomatoes and other delicious ingredients.

Dessert was equally memorable. The **Les Rochers** was a rich, decadent chocolate pastry, while the **Tarte aux Myrtilles** featured a crisp tart shell filled with berry compote, topped with fresh blueberries and dollops of berry cream. The highlight, however, was the pistachio tiramisu. Our server assembled it tableside using ladyfingers, coffee, whipped cream, pistachios, chocolate, and other ingredients, turning dessert into a fun experience. The portion was enormous and easily enough for our family of four to share.

Outstanding food, impeccable service, and one of the most spectacular dining views on Vancouver Island made this a truly unforgettable experience. Highly recommended.”

“I did enjoy triple take, truth serum, and buzz cut. The distillery tour I enjoyed and it was informative. I personally was not in favor of the peated whiskeys. You can definitely taste the smoke, and it lingered.”

The atmosphere is choice, and the delightful hostesses will do their best to accommodate. The inside window tables have excellent garden views.

On this vacation to Victoria, we visited Butchart Gardens five of the days and dined at the Dining Room all five days.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the friendliest hostess (I sadly didn’t catch her name, but she was so welcoming), and the atmosphere instantly felt warm, nostalgic, and just happy. Our server Chelsea was the cutest vibe ever! She fit the place perfectly. Super friendly, personable, and made the whole experience feel really personal and relaxed. You can tell when someone genuinely enjoys what they do, and it shows. The food? Banging. Great prices and seriously delicious. I had a roasted chicken wrap with tzatziki and a bunch of fresh veggies, plus a side salad, and it was SO good. Fresh, flavourful, and filling without being heavy. And the little details?? Instead of the usual mint at the end, they give you a piece of retro bubble gum. Such a fun, nostalgic touch that totally fits the diner’s vibe. Overall, the food, the service, the atmosphere....everything was amazing. I can’t wait to come back. Five and Dime Diner is one of those places that just makes you feel good. 💕 Thanks everyone!”

From when you first enter & you smell the fresh herbs to when you sit down around the table on super comfortable chairs/couches. WOW. The staff were attentive, personal and yet not in your zone too much. Helpful with advice on the food and menu. 10/10. The food was on another planet. We had three dishes in total - one appy and two mains. Cooked perfectly, extremely fresh flavours and large portions. The naan bread… just wow. Delish! Will be coming back and telling everyone about this. They deserve a line out the door.”
