Their own beef and perfectly cooked local bacon, I’m sure the produce is from their farm as you can taste each individual component. Managment sucks tho, apparently I can't ask for extra crispy onions without paying extra even tho I get barely any other veggies, because the owner is too cheap to order more than a small box every few weeks. Honestly frequently don't eat here as often now as the sandwiches aren't as appealing with only a weak dusting of crispy onions. Bad move owner”

“Fantastic service, with a smile. The Americano I had was as smooth as the cream I poured into it! No bitterness, and no biting aftertaste. They roast their own beans, so, unlike those American franchise places that burn the beans beyond recognition, these folks have mastered the fine art of crafting the perfect roast coffee bean.

Could change the name of that drink to a “Saanichtono”, to emphasize the localness of it all.

Bonus points for having a bike lock area!! I will be riding up here when winter ends. 🙂”

“Never been there before but its a quiet atmosphere didn't know what to think of it. But we ordered the Zoo sticks (zucchini sticks) the absolutely best and I travel all over Canada. Then we ordered the steak mashed potatoes and broccoli done to perfection 👌 and then to start on the drinks I had the rose sangria fizz not only was it beautiful to look at but my taste buds loved it too. Jesse our server/bartender easy going, attentive a great asset to that team and establishment. Next time I come through I definitely will be stopping over and over

“I have been twice to the Hot Dog Guys and cannot wait to go again. Awesome choices and the best veggie dog I have ever tasted. So many toppings and the bun and hot dog were fresh and so tasty. These guys are so welcoming and it is delightful to have great service with a smile as they deliver top food. Yummy! Will go back soon. Top food for Victoria and area! Try it you will be hooked!”

“Great experience. Top notch local distillery. Their whiskies cover a wide variety and depths with something for everyone. For those not whiskey drinkers they also have an excellent selection of local draft beers. Enjoy indoors or on their newly opened large patio.”

“We had dinner at Alpina Restaurant at Villa Eyrie Resort and were completely captivated by the breathtaking panoramic views of Saanich Inlet, framed by rolling mountains, lush greenery, and endless blue skies. Between the spectacular scenery and the outstanding cuisine, it was hard to decide which was more memorable!

We began with the rye sourdough bread, served with whipped butter and an apricot-cardamom butter. It was a simple yet elegant combination that we had never experienced before and absolutely loved.

For our mains, we enjoyed a roasted rainbow carrot salad with greens, feta, grains, and other flavorful toppings that made every bite delicious. The pesto pasta, finished with candied pistachios and a generous burrata, was an incredible combination of creamy, nutty, and herbaceous flavors. The seared tuna was perfectly cooked and served with fresh greens, while the grilled lingcod was flaky, moist, and delicately flavored, accompanied by tender beans cooked with tomatoes and other delicious ingredients.

Dessert was equally memorable. The **Les Rochers** was a rich, decadent chocolate pastry, while the **Tarte aux Myrtilles** featured a crisp tart shell filled with berry compote, topped with fresh blueberries and dollops of berry cream. The highlight, however, was the pistachio tiramisu. Our server assembled it tableside using ladyfingers, coffee, whipped cream, pistachios, chocolate, and other ingredients, turning dessert into a fun experience. The portion was enormous and easily enough for our family of four to share.

Outstanding food, impeccable service, and one of the most spectacular dining views on Vancouver Island made this a truly unforgettable experience. Highly recommended.”

“A nice, large coffee shop. We just wanted some light fare so we took some pastries (fruit almond brioche and strawberry cream danish), which were excellent. Also took a chai latte and a hot chocolate. Good service and room. Good prices. Highly recommend.”

“My wife and visit the gardens each summer and usually treat ourselves to the high tea. This year we felt the sandwiches were a bit bland and it appeared the menu was unchanged from 2025. Service was pretty good although the tea was not as hot as it could have been. Enjoyed the garden view from the outside terrace but be aware there can be wasps. Expensive for what you get but it is a nice treat!”

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the friendliest hostess (I sadly didn’t catch her name, but she was so welcoming), and the atmosphere instantly felt warm, nostalgic, and just happy. Our server Chelsea was the cutest vibe ever! She fit the place perfectly. Super friendly, personable, and made the whole experience feel really personal and relaxed. You can tell when someone genuinely enjoys what they do, and it shows. The food? Banging. Great prices and seriously delicious. I had a roasted chicken wrap with tzatziki and a bunch of fresh veggies, plus a side salad, and it was SO good. Fresh, flavourful, and filling without being heavy. And the little details?? Instead of the usual mint at the end, they give you a piece of retro bubble gum. Such a fun, nostalgic touch that totally fits the diner’s vibe. Overall, the food, the service, the atmosphere....everything was amazing. I can’t wait to come back. Five and Dime Diner is one of those places that just makes you feel good. 💕 Thanks everyone!”

“West Coast Fish N Chips : The fish is cooked to perfection( we usually get cod). The fries are home cut with skins on, have to say coleslaw is a bit chunky for some people who wear dentures.. ( I enjoy it) Staff is great!, the prices have stayed reasonable, maybe because they haven’t renovated 🤔and We love the ambience!!!”
