Having traveled extensively across both Western and Eastern countries, and sampled a vast array of cuisines, I was not prepared for the culinary surprise awaiting me at Francis Bread on Salt Spring Island, Canada. In a region where one might expect more conventional fare, the breakfast sandwich here stands out remarkably. The fusion of flavors, with a subtle Asian influence, elevates the dish, making it uniquely suited to the island’s eclectic culinary landscape. The balance of tastes is both unexpected and delightful, leaving a lasting impression in this often-overlooked corner of Canadian gastronomy.

Really cute cafe with a great vibe and open concept. The sandwiches are amazing but quite overpriced for what they are. We ended up buying a baguette, which was yummy, and all their baked goods looked great. However, their drink selection is pretty weak, so we decided to head over to Maverick’s for our coffees and matcha."

Wonderfully curated space that feels neighbourly and welcoming. The pastries are delicious along with the sandwich specials. I picked up a pear, brie sandwich and had it dine in.. will be coming back. New favourite on Salt Spring.

This place is fantastic. Tucked into a lovely shopping center you’ll find yourself there more than once. The sandwich was incredible and pastries lovely.

I came on a Saturday morning around 9:30am and there was a consistent line out the door while we were there. The line moves at a decent speed and we ordered the ham and jack croissant (pretty good) and the breakfast sandwich which was the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. I'm not a huge fan of a lot of breakfast items (i stay away from things like english muffins, sausages, and bacon. Egg is ok but makes me feel sick at times) but let me tell you this sandwich was actually so good. I was visiting from out of town so am not sure if this was a special or something they make on rotation but it tasted like a delicious burger to me lol. No photos cause we were hungry and devoured it. It was on the pricier side for $16 for only a sandwich, which is more than what I would like to spend. We didn't order any drinks so can't speak on that.
There is indoor and outdoor seating available. There was a little stage being set up outdoor and it looked like a band was going to perform. Not sure if it's part of their bakery or if it's for the entire area.

The food is great. The service is slow and chaotic. You have to be very ok with waiting, and with watching the confusion.
