Scandinavian fine dining in Ganges. A beautiful spot in a house with wood framed windows. Beautiful tablecloths, linens, and table settings. The food matched. Delicious appetizers, mains (I really enjoyed the venison and my wife the sablefish). And I got my favourite—chocolate for dessert. Go and have a great meal.

With out a doubt, this is the best dinner I’ve ever had! This is a well kept secret, but all I can say is the chef is an amazing creator and the flavours are outstanding. This beautiful fine dining restaurant is quaintly situated in a small home and produces extraordinary dishes. As a bonus… their wine list has great depth. Don’t miss a meal here. I’ve been eating here for the past 25 years, each time I visit SSI and the food is consistently excellent!

4 of us enjoyed dinner……..it was a remarkably enjoyable evening with excellent food, a perfect balance between making sure we had what we needed and leaving us to enjoy, a very extensive wine list. It is small, which creates a cozy atmosphere, but when it is busy it can be a tad noisy (not full on this occasion). However, that is a small issue when the meals are so nice. PS—if you order a rare steak it will come exactly that, a feat many restaurants don’t seem to manage. Prices about the same as any special restaurant.

If you check my profile here on Tripadvisor you'll see that I have submitted a few reviews ; ) I can not recall one restaurant experience that I would characterize as Dining Perfection, but that is what happened with Restaurant House Piccolo. From decor, to ambiance, to service, to food, to a wine list that could make you cry tears of joy THAT is what you get with this place. Check out my attached photos. Any time we are back on this island we will come back here.

Perfect dinner. The atmosphere is cozy and beautiful. My husband ordered the steak, I ordered finish salmon chowder, and herring; gp herring marinated in two ways with new potatoes. Delicate flavoring, all on spot deliciously handled food. Both sighed with satisfaction. Husband’s 70th birthday. A perfect choice for the occasion. We almost extended our stay in Salt Spring Island one more night to eat here tomorrow night if we didn’t have a trip to Vancouver starting next day. That good. I hear that the chef will be retiring after 29 years at Piccolo. Recommend you catch his cooking before he does really retire. Will come back very soon.
I used to love this Restaurant, but last night was an awful experience, this is a place where because it is twice as expensive as anywhere else on Salt Spring Island, you expect good service although the service was average the Waitress was very loud and invasive, not what this place usually offers, but worst of all the food I had the wiener schnitzel which in the past has been excellent, but this time was very dry and tasteless, and the vegetables where still raw, they where very difficult to cut and eat, when told the waitress proceeded to say that it was how it was, and made no apology. I hope they get their act together and return to an acceptable level of service and the high standard of food they once had, as for now I cannot recommend House Piccolo, such a shame.

Sat on the patio for an anniversary dinner with our baby on our lap, and really enjoyed the food and quaint quiet atmosphere of the restaurant! The cheese tart was very rich in flavour, and the side dish scallop potatoes that came with the main were prepared wonderfully as well. We ordered the lamb chops, schnitzel, and the halibut catch of the day, and we felt the lamb and schnitzel were the star main dishes of the evening. Would definitely recommend coming here for a lovely upscale dining experience!

Superb service. Excellent scallop risotto, chowder, filet mignon. Were so pleased that we asked if they could squeeze us in the following night. They did. Second dinner equally good. Highest recommendation.

Our group of six ended our stay in Salt Spring with a lovely meal at this fine establishment. Terrific ambience, staff, menu and food offerings. Hubby and I had the Beef Tenderloin au Poivre and Sable Fish respectively. Our friends also chose these dishes. We all declared our meals to be delicious! All in all a great way to end our little holiday. Highly recommend!
