Was given THE yummiest golden mylk turmeric tea. She asked how spicy I wanted it. Which I've never been asked before. I felt like I entered another world in this magical little space. I spoke to the owner for a bit. She was lovely and knowledgeable. Felt like I received a mini well-being consult! It has been added to my "must go to" list when I'm on Salt Spring. I've told so many of my friends about it. Morningside is more than a shop or cafe- it's an experience. Much love to you, Manon.

I entered this store with a calm and peaceful demeanor. Admiring the plants and ambiance. Noting all the bags of earthy ingredients. I inquired about a bag that said “smoke me”. Feeling like I interrupted the lady behind the counter , she blurted “it’s a tabacco alternative”. Jolted out of my calm, peaceful space I now felt like I walked into someone’s private hobby instead of a place of business. Then to make matters worse , my wife was taking a little video of the quaint shop to send to her friends and then the lady behind the counter barked “no photos or videos , it’s a private place”. Not politely or with a sense of understanding. Rude and harsh. We would have respected that wish if it was posted anywhere on a sign or asked in a polite and friendly tone, like other local shops. As we were now clearly offending this woman with our presence we turned to leave. This is when in heard the lady mutter under her breath like she was cursing our day. I do not recommend this shop in any way.
Why do French people only have 1 egg for breakfast ? Because in French, 1 egg is an œuf (enough)

We didn't try the food, so I can't comment on that. However, we really enjoyed the atmosphere. Upon entering, we loved the scent and asked the owner about it. We ended up purchasing lemongrass oil. It is interesting and unique place for sure.

Uggh.. worst of the 'authentic' dirty hippie shops - would never recommend eating food from this place. Staff is unhygienic and surly, everything covered in a thick layer of dust and bug bits. Avoid.
Parking: Crowded area with ferry traffic, locals going to the market or post office - expect to run a gauntlet just getting to the place, and then you're likely to have to search for street parking >1block away on narrow roads with no sidewalks.

We had Chai drinks and sampled a chocolate bar. We were blown away by the genuine flavour of both
It's a great place if you love verbal abuse ? The food was OK, but not worth the emotional labor or money. Updated from previous review on 2024-04-04
A mixture of performance art, cafe, organic food, and stirred with a wand of mystical indifference. The owner is a bit challenging and she might serve you or might not, it's kind of like getting an instant tarot reading from your hippy barista. If she is happy she is kind and you shall be served, if she is moody well then it's performance art. The drinks are really good, excellent even. The food is excellent and mostly confectionery and has lovely spices. I am a repeat customer and she even gives me the evil eye from time to time, but she then comes around and does make a wonderful beverage. The rock salt nextdoor has the worst coffee, chai, and is terrible so ya know there are limited options. It's not personal...it's just coffee...
Dietary restrictions: Lots of dairy free and gluten-free alternatives.

So, let's recap. When entering a store to make a purchase, it would be nice for the server to show some politeness. We spent $45 on organic balls and Chai tea, which she claimed was popular. We tried it, but it was honestly nothing special. We were not impressed with the food and particularly dissatisfied with the employee's attitude towards us as customers. Many island stores are owned or operated by friendly individuals, creating a wonderful atmosphere that encourages people to spend time here. Yet, there are others that leave you wondering what problem they might have.

Definitely a certain person will absolutely love this place. Worth having a visit and I recommend buying atleast a chocolate. Read the reviews before visiting and don't expect anything. Went looking for food but unfortunately she's completely changed the place and doesn't interact online. I bought two chocolates and my husband and I very much enjoyed it.
