Ever wake up from a feverish sweaty dream only to discover that the pirate ship you were captured and taken to was actually just a little bar by the ocean with palm trees? And there was actually no feverish dream you were just on a 3 day bender. The Local, it'll put nuts on your hair.

It's a dive bar and I am here for it. They had prosecco by the glass. The waitress was fab. Smelled like booze, the TV was loud, and the tables were sticky. 10/10

Great place for some good old boys to hang out.
Would not recommend Uptown Pizza/Burger?

The Local is just as it is named. These are your local tradesman and the islands local people. I see some horrendous reviews but this spot is not for the boujee seekers. The bartenders treat you great, know your name and remember what you drink. Friday nights are live music with Ashton Bachman (grandson of rock legend Randy Bachman) Saturday are open mic with so much hidden talent. If you’re just looking for a simple dive bar with a view that can order you food in from anywhere, this is it. Personally I love Dive Bars so to me, it’s gold.
look for andrea’s review ;)
The service is so good and so fast that the icy cold beer on tap is ruining my husbands dream of becoming a swimsuit model!!! His waistline is spreading faster than a Saltspring rumour!

Warm beer and cold severs! Just kidding lol. Service is on point and you get a real local vibe so it definitely stands up to its name.

A close friend of mine loves this place because it's the only option on Saltspring Island for a small hometown bar where you can almost always run into a friend..
However from what I could see, the staff are quite rude/condescending to anyone they don't know well as a daily regular.. As well as overserving their guests to the point of causing a scene, then kicking them out once they've taken what they can get of their money for booze.
I've seen someone who clearly had been served too much to drink & wasn't even coherent anymore, be cut off & then continue to be served by a different bartender; until they were blamed for starting a fight (talk about an obvious outcome).
I've also seen an elderly gentleman who had been served too much alcohol, be removed from the bar after 'falling out of his chair'.. Once he was gone the staff realized the chair had been broken already.
There are maybe one or two solid people who work at this establishment, so far as I can see the others are acting for their own self-interest in making money & definitely not that of the patrons.
Attend at your own risk.
Very clean sidewalks. Advocates locals.

Most awesome time, great people, great service
The atmosphere in this local pub is reminded me of the bar scenes from the show shameless. The locals are an absolute riot to listen to. Selena and Lauren were both very cool bartenders, they knew the names of about 75% of the people that walked in and most times even knew what they were going to order. This is not the type of pub many tourist might be looking for when visiting such a sleepy little island town for a quiet get away but I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. I 100 percent will visit again!!!
A perfect little hole-in-the-wall Pub to go to on the water. Staff was fantastic drinks for good as well
On Saturday afternoon after cruising through the Farmer's Market, we decided to stop here for some lunch. There was only one lady working the bar indoors and also the customers outside, so we did not expect that the service would be that good, but we were certainly wrong. The lady who was serving did an excellent job of keeping everybody served and was run off her feet but never missed a beat. And the food was served hot and tasty. We really enjoyed the visit!
The Local is for the locals and those that enjoy a friendly atmosphere and great service!
