Food is good but couldn’t even bother to pick up the phone during open hours.
It is not ok to show as open and not be open.We drove a long way to come here Saterday night on a summer weekend. The place was simply shut.My advise, if you're looking for somewhere to go for dinner, choose somewhere that you can trust to be open when you arrive.
Three of us attended the restaurant and first of all the Sunumono appetizer was inedible for both of us that ordered it,, we had some various sushi dishes and the Tuna Salmon Sashimi was very bland with no taste at all.. for some reason we were inundated with tiny flies that were hovering around our table.. so the final insult was that although the website said they were open till 8;30 we were told by our server that 7;45 was last call ,, so all in all a not so nice evening and I might add very expensive for what we had
Had it before years ago. Use to be good, had the same things I’ve had hundreds of times at many different places and holy crap on a cracker it was terrible. Just soo bad in soo many ways I just can’t even start. Had ONE piece of each thing I was brought and both me and my partner I made try it spat each thing out. I absolutely love sushi and have all my life… this was just super bad. So we tell them nicely it’s not right and send it back and they try to bill us for it and then guilt us into paying for food that was terrible. They refused to take the roll that was even made differently from even the description they wrote down let alone how it’s normally made (besides my change from imitation crab to real crab…. Real crab was 100% canned or frozen and gross as well) 100% will never be coming back here and would never recommend to anyone!
Sushi is good.Service is pathetic. We waited far too long to be served, and seemed to be forgotten about. My advice is to order takeout instead.
Friendly service. Sushi was okay.
Yeah !! They are finally back open for in door eating. They have been open for ta k out only, for a long time, due to Covid, so we were Very happy to see that the dining area was open again. After wating so long, the food and service was even better than we remembered. Never had a meal here that we were not thrilled with.
Good food. Note, prices listed on here from customers' images are not accurate. Actual prices might be 20% more than some of the pictures you see. For example one of the menu photos says $15.50 for the Favorite Roll combo but it is actually $19. I would still eat here, but just a heads up.
Head and shoulders above any other sushi place in Sechelt. The rice is sticky but not mushy; fish, fruit, and vegetables are fresh and delicious. Our order was ready promptly, we were greeted with a smile and everything was hot when we got home. You can tell they're experienced and care about making their food great.During COVID they only do takeout, but don't let that stop you from enjoying their food!
Disappointed to say that I've been unable to reach them over the phone like specified on their website. I've called multiple times in an hour and no one ever answers and this is just not on one day. I'm certain COVID has the majority of the reasons as to why but it doesn't seem feasible to a business to operate this poorly and still deliver great food. It will take something special for me to go back...

Absolutely Gas ⛽️ Highly recommended, best sushi I’ve had in awhile. Thank you!
They have brown rice sushi which is a bonus.
While the food is great, the service is TERRIBLE. They claim to have take out services but NEVER answer their phone. I am not talking about one time, unfortunately there has been numerous occasions where myself and/or friends and family have called the restaurant and they will not pick up (no matter the time of day or how many times we call). On the rare occasion we are able to get in an order , it is only by physically going to the restaurant in which case wait times are well over an hour to an hour and a half (this never waivers). I can imagine how much business they have lost, simply by not answering their phone. COVID aside, there should be proper measures in place to ensure that you are able to facilitate a positive and effortless experience for your customers, especially when take out is the only option. The foundation of any strong and successful restaurant starts with providing exceptional customer service. Whether you are a large chain restaurant or a small business, going above and beyond with your customers is a tactic that will drive repeat customers and propel your revenue today, and in the future. In most cases, a customer goes to a restaurant with convenience and indulgence in mind. To them, it’s an experience where they can stray away from cooking. Therefore, the restaurant should be organizing operations and conducting service with the customer and convenience in mind. That is definitely not the case at Sushi Bar 5517 and they need to do better. If you refuse to answer your phone then make it clear on your website or google that you are only accepting in person orders. It is better to be honest and upfront than to leave potential customers with a negative feeling about your establishment. If all the other restaurants in Sechelt can get their staffing and service adjusted (which they have) then theres really no excuse. Even an online ordering system would be a possible solution..... anyways- enough said.
3 days in a row and no answer. They should state that they have shut down....????
Called multiple times during their “open hours” and have yet to have someone answer the phone.. been calling for over an hour now. This is horrible. Don’t bother calling, just order elsewhere!
