3rd Time ordering from Fish on Fifth . The first two orders before were good , this one was Awfull . 2 Piece Deep Fried Halibut and Fries , both were dry and shriveled up like they were re heated for the order .

Just had a 2 piece cod and chips take away and won't be doing that again. The fish was tasteless and the chips were ok, but the coleslaw serving was tasty but tiny. Even the tartar sauce was boring... better fish and chips at Dickens pub. For a place that specializes in fish and chips they should step it up a lot!!!

Waitress was sweet and kind… and has nothing to do with dining experience we had . We can only say that cook doesn’t know anything about cooking.. cold chowder was served together with hot fish and chips… fish was salmon ( greyish colour and a very small portion… ) I suspect it was pink farmed salmon and coleslaw was mixed with big chunks uncut cabbage leaves. My partner’s cod was undercooked and not well spiced and when I refused to pay for cold chowder the manager argued with me that I am wasting food because he will have to discard soup I didn’t eat… terrible attitude and I won’t ever go back there… sorry…

Well that was the worst dining experience of the last decade hands down. The waitress was doing a great job but we still had to listen to the kitchen staff berate at her even though they were the ones making ABSOLUTELY AWEFUL FOOD. The clam chowder was cold and tasteless. Asked for it to be warmed up and they brought cold cod chowder instead??? Did we get the dregs of the chowder? Ordered calamari and it was cold and like chewing shoe leather. The waitress told us that the kitchen told her it was the last order so did we want something else. So it was just sitting there cold? Who knows when you made it? You plated that and SERVED IT TO US?? The only one of our party who ate the cold clam chowder has had an upset stomach all day. I never bother to send food back, unless it is REALLY bad, and I certainly don't bother going on Google to review a dining experience but this time it is worth it to warn people away.

I recently visited Fifth on Fish for their gluten-free fish and chips, but unfortunately, it was an underwhelming experience. I ordered the GF cod fish and chips, and while I was excited to try a safe gluten-free option, parts of the fish were barely cooked, with some sections of the batter being doughy and raw. I could even see liquid bubbles coming from the uncooked batter. When I brought this to the chef's attention, he dismissed my concerns, claiming that cod is a squishier fish and suggesting I should have ordered haddock or halibut, which he implied would be denser.
As someone who has eaten my fair share of cod I've never encountered a "squishy" texture. I've had haddock, halibut, salmon, and sturgeon, and none of these fish ever had that raw, doughy feel when cooked properly—cod included. The waitress was sweet and kind, but the food quality really fell short of expectations, especially since gluten-free fish and chips are a rare treat.
Sadly, I won’t be returning to Fifth on Fish. I’d recommend to fellow gluten-free patrons to head to places like 6 Mile Pub, Oak Bay Fish & Chips, or the Fish Store on Fisherman’s Wharf, where they can enjoy safe, delicious gluten-free fish and chips without the disappointment. To top off my experience, I even found a hair inside the batter—an unfortunate cherry on top of a very unsatisfactory meal.

Excellent vegan options! I haven’t eaten fish in 10 years, this vegan tofu fish was a total treat! They have a ton of vegan options, all I can say is thank you!!! I’ve also never seen my 10 year old eat a plate so fast! We will be back!!

We ordered 10 pieces with fries the fish was not good at all the batter was soggy and taste less I would never go there again it was not good at all. I reached out the the store and never got a response I would not recommend them at all.

I came into here with high expectations since we are right by the ocean for some fresh fish I got some deep fried pickles and deep fried cod the deep fried pickles was just straight pickles deep fried I was thinking it would be in bite size but no and the first piece of was amazing perfect white fantastic while the other was horrendous all mush I will never come back if your looking for a fish and chips place never go here only enjoyable part was the waitress kinda

Restaurant is worn down, tables & chairs are dated & dirty (tables were sticky). Service was abrupt and abrasive. We ordered 1 cod & 1 salmon, we received 2 cod. Fries seem to be run of the mill frozen. Fish tasted stale, coleslaw had large slices of cabbage, and for my liking way too much dill in the tartar. We looked forward to lunch but were quite disappointed and we won't be back.
