Maria's Souvlaki Greek Restaurant

I have been jonesing for a Gyro for about a year! I read about this lovely place and saw the fabulous reviews so had to come try it out! My Gyro did NOT disappoint. Melt in my mouth meat, tons of onions and tomatoes and the tzatziki sauce 👌👌Anyone who is complaining about prices must not know the cost of ingredients in today's current climate. Service was friendly and perfectly personable!! Highly recommend!!

Always wonderful, great food reasonably priced.

We dined at Maria's our first night in Sidney. Lucky for us, we arrived on the last night of the weekly street market. The atmosphere on our walk from our hotel to Maria's was beautiful, as singer's performed and we stopped to check out the shops.
The restaurant is small and cozy with interesting decor. It's very casual, not fancy at, and this is fine. You order at the counter and a wait staff bring the food to your table. It's very casual.
I had the Mousaka, my spouse had the lamb skewers. We were both very happy with our entrees. Our only regret is that we live across the country and cannot return any time soon!

WORST GREEK FOOD EVER.
For every item I ordered I was charged way more than advertised on their website. There was no dressing on the $16 greek salad. The $20 calamari was not fresh; flavourless, chewy and boring. The three falafel patties were thin, over fried and dry, and seemed like frozen patties to me. The chicken skewer was flavourful, but too salty and dry. All of this for $63. Total ripoff! Total food disappointment!!

This restaurant is so cute. I love the decor and the food is so good. I'm glad to have a Greek place to stop for dinner on my way home via the ferries. The cashier was very sweet and did a great job answering our questions about the food for my partner with sensitivities.

The souvlakis are good, but pricing is very high for a place where you go up and order yourself and the size of the portions.
