Just tried calling in I get no responses I drove down there and there's next to no one in the restaurant, I try to order takeout and I'm told that they aren't doing takeout because there's only one cook.... How does this place function? What's the difference between takeout and sitting in.. it's still cooking the same food but packaging it to go... And all I wanted was soup...

The food was very bad. The restaurant itself and the service was all good, but the food was terrible. Tasted like salt and was super inauthentic. I don’t feel good after eating here. Was so overpriced.

Great place to dine for a cozy and quiet experience with scrumptious tasty food. Well priced and excellent portions. The people cooking in the kitchen love cooking and it comes through in the food.

Clean , Up to date , service was great ….. now onto the worst review i have ever done ….first red flag the entrance smelled of sewer …second red flag zero customers…we picked up chicken balls very good …ginger beef was tasteless and cut into squares there was more caullyflower then meat…fried prawns very good ….chicken chow mein was mr noodles with flakes of i guess chicken zero flavour no veg or sauce it was a total loss….beef chop suey was plain no flav no spice …. I would not recommend this chinese food place to anyone i will not be returning ever … cost me 137$ for 6 small containers of what i would call not legit chinese food , check pictures and reviews before entering this place…. Now heading to the only other chinese resturant in Smithers 🤟

We decided to go there for a birthday party on March 3rd & We paid 213.00 for the worst food ever; literally, out of the 8 of us 5 are now suffering food poisoning, the chow mein noodles was dry and flavourless and the rice was steamed with canned vegetables. The sweet & sour was over battered and 2 of my three little ones are now sick along with myself, the birthday girl and father in law… I didn’t expect this because it used to be good when I was a kid, my mom & dad used to take me there, save your money your time & your health

First time trying northern star cafe in Smithers BC, great Chinese food there I would go back there again wonton soup is great too this was combo 12 was delicious

Spent $139 deep fried prawns were great chicken balls were great. Chicken chowmein was Mr noodles and what looked like chewed up chicken zero taste. Beef chopsuey no flavour and not sure what kind of meet was served with it. Very disappointed. The girl that helped at the till was super friendly.

She went to the kitchen, told the cook and was smiling and laughing at my expense. She was smiling and I kept eye contact so she came over and explained it was overlooked at the cook didn’t see it. She basically blamed him
So I told her that she is to remind him as well. She invited me to talk to the owner and I said she can relay my experience to him and she said he did.
I guess overlooking my order is a joke
The food was ok the first time we tried this place but we returned bc the Gitxsan server made our experience dining out so amazing we returned only to be served by non-indigenous who laughed at my expense. .

We have eaten at the North Star for years, both eating in and taking out! Love their War Wonton, soup, Chicken Chow Mein, Beef and Broccoli, Egg Fu Yung, Chicken Balls. Friendly service. Good food. Reasonable prices.
