Hara Sushi has great food with an authentic atmosphere, but the service left much to be desired. Our server, she seemed overworked, and we didn’t feel particularly welcomed. The rushed environment gave it more of a 'take and go' feel, which wasn’t what we expected from a Japanese restaurant.I wanted this place to be my go to Japanese place but this feel likes almost discriminatory. I don’t want to-bad mouth but even my partner, she felt it so. Maybe it’s just my high expectations from a local restaurant to thrive in community and expecting them to play their role in this community. # my first not so positive review based on our experience, I could be totally wrong in perceiving so

Hara Sushi is always delicious. The staff are prompt and friendly, the place is clean and welcoming and the chef is fabulous. I love going there♥️
Vegetarian options: There are a few rolls and tempura options as well as salads and sides
Parking: It is in a strip mall so plenty of free parking available
Kid-friendliness: I see kids there often. It is family oriented

Disappointed I walked in 10 min till they closed at 2:30 for their break and wouldn’t make my California rolls to go. Especially since I tried calling first but they purposely didn’t answer

Me and my wife just ordered seafood soup from Hara Sushi last night we got home opened the soup up there was what looked like worms crawling out of the oysters and the soup smelled off we will will not be returning after our experience last night we are not at all impressed

The waitress was very nice, maybe because she was a local working part-time, but only part-time! But the restaurant was terrible, when we walked in and said hello to the male staff in work clothes (probably the Korean boss), they just looked at us coldly and didn't say anything! The food was also terrible, the meat and fish were not fresh!

New server, young girl getting overwhelmed pretty easily. The owners seem kind of rude and aren’t supporting her. Restaurant is empty (only 2 tables occupied) yet it took over 20 min for some nigiri. They’re turning people away at the door. Food quality low, the ahi tuna was mushy, and the ebi prawn looked bad: the chicken yaki udon was bad too. Even the sushi rice is not good. This place won’t last if anyone opens competition in Sooke:
I really like Hara. Value for spend cant beat the chicken teriyaki dinner with california roll! Add a couple pieces of toro nigiri and your set. Never disappoints.
