Working on a difficult job way beyond Sooke, I was driving back into town one evening feeling hungry, tired, and a little blue. I stopped into The Lazy Gecko and they did me one chicken taco for the road - just enough to get me set for the long drive.
The taco itself was excellent - fresh, tasty, and nutritious. The staff were so, so nice - professional, friendly, and efficient. The whole experience was like a tonic. I went on my way feeling cheered and restored.

Food looked pretty good upon arrival but we found it to be fairly bland. The young lady serving was excellent , she appeared to be doing everything on the floor including making the drinks herself. She did good to keep up with the lunch rush. I would give the food a 3.5 out of 5 .

What a gem. Our server (Elena) is the real gem here. The food is tasty, the chairs were cozy. There's a lovely view of the water.
Most of the menu can be veganized. But it's not really written out very well on the menu. But, rest assured, Elena was supper knowledgeable and took really great care of us.

Really great spot! Our server was unreal. There was a slight mix up with one order and she fixed it and got a new one out in record speed. Food was very good. Mango salsa and Barbacoa were highlights (separate). If you’re in Sooke hit this place up.

It used to be an excellent place over a year ago.I just went today October 4th 2025. The price has gone way up and you get wayless meat and more rice in your burrito. It Definitely. Sad because all these businesses seem to be going downhill In sooke With way, higher prices and way less product

This little hidden gem is amazing. Coming here you would be impressed not only by the service but also the food here. The taco salad is one of my favs and well the burritos are off the hook. To be honest every thing on the menu here is worth trying. The staff are super friendly and polite. The lazy Gecko is hands down one of the best places in sooke to eat. So next time you’re out here bring a friend and enjoy some amazing food.
