I often visit Sooke, but this was my first time visiting this place and eating the best fish and chips in Canada. I missed out on a lot by missing out on this place. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is great. I only missed the beer because I was driving, but I'll make up for it next time. I'll definitely be a regular here.

I’ve visited Route 14 a few times now, and it’s become one of my favourite reliable stops in Sooke. Every visit has been solid — the kind of place where you know the food will be good, the service steady, and the atmosphere relaxed in that classic downtown Sooke way.
The steak has always been cooked well, flavourful and satisfying, and the fish and chips are exactly what you want on the coast: crispy, fresh, and generous. Drinks are consistently good too, whether you’re keeping it simple or trying something a little more fun. It’s the kind of menu where everything feels familiar but well executed.
The atmosphere is easygoing, comfortable, and welcoming — a mix of locals, visitors, and regulars that gives the place a friendly rhythm. The location right in the heart of town makes it an easy choice whether you’re meeting friends, grabbing a casual meal, or just stopping in after a day out.
Overall, Route 14 delivers every time. Good food, good drinks, good people, and a great spot to settle into the Sooke vibe.

Visted 2 nights in a row while visiting Sooke with friends. After full days exploring, we found Route 14 one of the few open late and close to our accommodations. A bit loud with sports on TV but the hostess found us a quieter spot. Very friendly wait staff. Lots of menu options. I had calamari one night, which was perfectly done. We all had the fish and chips special on our second visit. Hand cut fries. Fish wasn't greasy at all. Very reasonably priced. Food was hot and arrived quickly. Would definately visit again.
Went here this summer, online it says 20-30 bucks, when me and my partner sat down we looked and the dinner menu was $30-$50 bucks which is way out of our price range for one meal. The only thing that was $20-$30 were the appies and salads. The staff was weird about it when we said the price was a lot, we were looking for a suggestion of something filling under $30 but the waiter left us and then we left before we ordered and ended up going somewhere else down the road.
