First time at this Restaurant, shared 2 appetizers , the Fire Cracker Shrimp and the Calamari. Both were cooked very well and not overcooked which is easy to do with these 2 items. Also had the Fish and Chips , home cut fries and lightly battered fish , was very good, coleslaw was very bland. Overall 4 /5 for this establishment .

I don't know why route 14 can't get there stuff together. Seems evening cooks can't figure out how to cook different items so everything comes out not even HOT but warm. Love their Chicken Parmesean but can't figure out how the chicken can be steaming Hot but pasta is at best luke warm almost cool. Not once but 3 or 4x. By the time the waitstaff come back to check, well chicken is half eaten and I just take the pasta and leftovers home. Yes I have told them, they just say sorry. Not wanting anything just Hot - even warm food. Seems any dish with pasta has this problem. Don't know if they are just plating all pasta first and then adding protein but Route 14 used to be amazing...now not so much ?sorry

I can only comment on the wonderful technique Genelle exhibited this evening while bartending. It is SO difficult to find a perfect martini and to find one in my town of Sooke. To find an excellent bartender at such a young age is amazing, and this establishment should be so proud to employ her! Such amazing potential we are lucky to have in this town. My husbands margarita was crafted perfectly as well. A major improvement for this restaurant!!
I had a real bad run in with the owner.We came here as a group of 4 we all ordered a burger with the works, aswell as fries and a bowl of salad to share with feta and crab cakes.The burgers were ok but tasted like frozen burger patties With processed cheese. Nothing special about this burger at all.I found the server to be rude and unhelpful. When we paid the bill we tried to let her know about the experience but did not care at all.The salad was a salad my mom had to beg for the feta that apparently came with the salad, and the crab cakes were small tasted like canned crab.I wrote a review about my visit and the owner tracked me down and demanded I remove my review. 7 years later I haven't been back nor did I take down my review.I like to shop local and support local businesses but route 14 needs to learn how to take criticism. Not everyone is going to love everything.

Had a really delish and properly cooked Portobello mushroom burger here and the soup was excellent tasting! Should have got the fries though as they were really tasty too! Will go back again when I'm in the area. Service was fantastic too...very attentive staff!
