We would like to thank our lovely server for setting a warm and welcoming tone for the evening, and going above and beyond expectations to ensure our comfort. We also truly appreciated the special "Happy Anniversary" plate that accompanied our dessert!
We went for a Valentine's Day date. They had a set menu . After the first two courses we had eaten five bites each. The presentation of the food was beautiful but taste was lacking. The main course we ordered venison, it came out over done, dry and a super small serving again. That my husband and I joked that we would have to eat when we got home. We send the main back and got a bit of attitude from a server. But the highlight was dessert. They must have an amazing pastry chef. The bill came and was outraged at $350 for two people to have below par quality and quantity and only two glasses of wine. We will never go back. A lot off fluff but no delivery for that price.
The food and service was wonderful! The menu is limited but all delicious options. Unfortnately there was a very loud and rude couple behind us that made it uncomfortable to stay longer and enjoy the incredible view but it isn't the fault of the restaurant. Looking forward to another time that hopefully is more peaceful.
Stunning locale that makes this a first choice for special events. Food is okay but not special and the service distracted. A potential superstar if they can enhance the menu and service.
The copper room can be quite cool in the evening when seated at the tables. Otherwise the service was good and the food was lovely.
Stunning views, an amazing restaurant, and the friendliest staff! Our stay was nothing short of amazing. We love coming back, it's the perfect island getaway.
Upon entering, the lack of greetings, welcome, how can I help you...was not present, sadly. There was a female walking out of the kitchen complaining about taking care of someone's table, having us at the door and needing a moment. No words of “hi, I will be right with you”. At that time, the bartender quickly stepped out of the Copper Room to greet us and walk us to our table. He was nice as so was our male server. There were only 5 tables sat in the whole place and the female server was cold, never smiled and while her table wished her a Merry Christmas, she just turned her back and said, “you too”. This girl needs a lesson in customer service! My two cents...everyone is VIP, it's expensive to go out these days and everyone deserves to be greeted, acknowledged and with a smile upon entering. We felt like we were a burden in the first minute of our arrival and it set a tone for the whole experience. However, the food was great, our server seemed shy and didn't talk much but attentive and polite. The bartender seemed to be very experienced and friendly-thank you. The dining room was very cold. The fireplaces weren't lit, the ambiance just wasn't there. Even with our dinner being so good, I can't say we'll return. Overall experience 6 out of 10. It's not the “old Sooke Harbour House” where the owners would greet you and do a table touch with every table in the room. Now it's quiet, cold and lacking in laugher & cheer.
The menu was very expensive. There was no option for a side salad, just a Caesar or a Burrata salad. We each had the chicken which was cooked well...still moist. The vegetable of Brussel sprouts was overwhelmed by way too many sun-dried tomatoes and capers. People at the next table commented the same. This made it very salty and not enjoyable. As it was the only vegetable and no side salad available it was a meat heavy meal. The desserts were the highlights. One of us had the quince sorbet and mousse which was delightful and the other of us had the apple strudel special which had melt in your mouth pastry.
An excellent brunch served by a cheerful server in an absolutely lovely restaurant. Great job!
We had a lovely lunch at SHH a few weeks ago. This time was not. There was no host to seat us. The lone server, who was doing her best, told us to sit anywhere. Some tables had not been cleared. It took 40 minutes to get our orders. The ribeye steak had been cut into 1 inch chunks and was covered in a dark, burnt sauce. The steak was tough and tepid. There was no basil verde or crispy lemon potatoes. The server was gracious and didn't charge the $72.

Sooke Harbour House offers an absolutely amazing dining experience. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the oceanfront views are breathtaking. It's a wonderful venue for brunch, romantic dinners, and even weddings. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even more special. Highly recommend!
If you haven't been to their daily happy hour from 3 to 5pm, you are missing one of the best happy hours anywhere. Great food and drinks in an amazing location at bargain prices - sign me up!
Two piece fish & chips special on Thursdays is so so good! Service exceptional. Lovely window seat, soft lighting, comfortable seating, delicious food and drink...we'll be back!
Best fine dining in Sooke. Way better than Wild Mountain with much better service and views.
Upon arriving we were greeted by friendly staff and breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains and forested East Sooke Park. With slow autumn season it was very intimate and quiet in the dining room. The service server (Weston) was very attentive. Our appetizers, main courses and desserts were presented artfully and full of flavour. Next time, we will try happy hour and choose to sit in the Copper Room. The only thing missing in the dining room was a cozy fire in the dining room fireplace! Hopefully, the restaurant will make good use of it this fall and winter.
