Rude and sarcastic hosts. Lady with an attitude over simple questions. Ruin the whole experience.

This morning, Hubs and I decided to try the West Coast Grill for breaky at about 9:30 ish. The parking lot is always busy. Found a parking spot, then wandered into the restraunt, stood waiting to be acknowledged, that took quite some time. Then finally about 5-8 minutes was noticed, then was seated at a table that had lawn chairs that where too low. Another 5 minutes later was brought water, we asked to move to another table that had proper chairs. Then looking at the menu very few items. After a few more minutes was asked what beverage they could get us. Finally my Hubs decided we should leave and go to another place as it might be awhile before we get food. Left highly disappointed and will not venture here for breakfast!

Wine bottles prominently displayed at entrance that are stored incorrectly, 5+ minutes waiting to be addressed upon arrival, another 10 just to get water and a promise of coffee... Finally left after another 10 minutes. Was it the hoodie I was wearing? You were not anywhere near capacity and still no one could find the time for us. Shame really.
Edit: ended up at Mom's Cafe where we were greeted before the door could close behind us; seated a moment later and coffee arrived in less than 2 minutes when our orders were taken. Their menu has about 4 times the breakfast choices and they are busy - 3 tables shy of capacity! Can you guess where we'll never attend or recommend for breakfast in Sooke? Can you guess where we will overwhelmingly point hungry people?

Clearly noted on the menu as vegan option available for the rice bowl. It was good!

Wonderful good and ambiance. Not full stars because they didn't serve alcohol to my adult(22) daughter despite showing them a photo ID. Traveling from AB, we never bring more than one🥲.

The staff were great, we didnt really enjoy the food very much as it wasn't the greatest. Maybe it was what we ordered but for the price we weren't super happy with it. The patio and restaurant are beautiful.

Restaurant is inside the hotel but no signs showing the way. Parking extremely limited. Food is pre-prepped and allergies are difficult to accommodate. Prices are reasonable. 4 adults with 12 fresh oysters (shared) , main course X4 and 1 bottle of wine was $380CAD excl. tip

I had the most delicious tuna sandwich in which they put two onion rings on it. It was absolutely delicious. I would come back. My husband ordered fish and chips.

Terrible tasteless omelette and greasy potatoes. Don’t recommend breakfast here. Wait time was also long.

So disappointed with our visit. We went, with friends, for lunch, the venue is great, with amazing views, from the terrace.
I ordered a cup of chowder, which comes with a biscuit, when it arrived, the chowder was warm ish, not hot, and bland, the biscuit was crumbly hard, apparently not freshly made. I returned it and declined a replacement We also ordered the shrimp, which were very nice, perfectly cooked and in a nice sauce. However at the conclusion of clearing the dish, my friend noticed, what he thought was a small bone, in the sauce. We pointed this out to the server, who’s response was ‘eew, I don’t know what that is’. I realised it was a piece of lemongrass, which was fine, but the server’s initial response, was dreadful.
We were served our main courses, but needed cutlery, which was asked for. After a short while, two sets arrived, when we needed three sets. I again asked for another set, which was not forthcoming, so I went to an empty table and retrieved a set. A couple of minutes later, the server arrived with a set. Certainly a 2-3 minutes at least had passed. Not great service, and no apology for the delay.
I feel that our experience was not what we anticipate, and certainly not an experience I wish to have again. big fail, on the day, maybe our bad luck, but it should not be, it should be consistent.

Friend's from out of town arrived first and requested a table for 5. They were told to wait 20 minute's. We arrived and then we waited until the server came out side to take us to our table. It was inside where terrible loud music was playing and we asked our friend's why we weren't sitting outside. They didn't know there was outside seating so the server never informed them. We then asked if we could sit outside and that didn't look like it was a welcome change! We were eventually taken outside where there were many empty tables. Food was bland, price for 5 was $300
