Gigi's Gourmet Gyros and Gelato

Came here twice now... First time, the girls working the counter looked at each other like I was some kind of creep when I asked if they had stracciatella as a gelato flavour. I didn't know that was such an unreasonable question? It’s like going to a pizza shop and they think you’re insane for ordering pepperoni.

Second time we came as a family 15 minutes before they closed, and the staff was visibly annoyed when we ordered 4 cups of gelato. My wife tried to break the tension by saying “oh do you want us to leave?” to which the girl at the counter responded “actually, yeah.” I wish that writing this was me stretching the truth, but that’s literally what was said.

Overall, the gelato here is decent, but the customer service is really hard to look past.

We are usually very happy about going here. However yesterday around 4pm, we left disappointed with the way the lady staff spoke down to an elderly lady and ignored her for too long after she orders a poutine. We sat to talk to the elderly lady and she was so sweet. She left with zero meal after telling staff she was hungry! After I went to ask for a spoon, because the baby threw the last one on the floor, I was met with attitude! I found myself apologizing? I hope this staff member could be let go so we can continue enjoying this wonderful little spot! I’ll definitely not go in if she’s working! What a shame!!!!

So impressed to see vegan and gluten free options. I had the vegan mint chocolate chip, it was just delicious! So many options too, I had a hard time choosing!
I would have given 5 stars for 'atmosphere' but I felt uncomfortable witnessing the way management was addressing the younger employees, as we felt very satisfied with the service we received from them.

Mmmm the blood orange sorbetto is amazing!!! Not as impressed with the bubble tea though. I had a taro milk bubble tea and the use slushy ice which dilutes the drink . So it was flavourless. If the owner sees this review I suggest offering the bubble teas with or without the slushy ice.
UPDATE: We returned again to get some of their delicious sorbetto and I tried the bubble tea again. This time it was much better.

When for the gelato and it did not disappoint, it was so hard to choose a flavour ?. The serving are HUGE so don’t underestimate what you are getting. The cups get filled with a big heap on top. The gelato is light and airy and the sorbetto is very delicious!

Stood in line for 30 minutes just to give up. Have never seen more than one staff memeber on shift at a time, felt horrible for the single employee that was absolutely drowning in orders. Management only ever staffs one person at a time for some reason...
If there's more than two customers in the building, don't go unless you're prepared to wait 30+ minutes for food, ice cream, etc. Hopefully they bring in a second staff member to fix this issue, otherwise, won't be back as it's too long of a wait. (Lunch hours 12pm - 4pm)

This is a lovely spot for a summer break. There's lots of seating, inside and out, and some days, there's a real neighborhood vibe going on. Downtown Summerland needed this.

The star attraction is, of course, the gelato, and they do it proud. Huge daily selection of flavors, from classic to way out there. Sample a bunch before you choose. They come in one, two, and three scoop tubs, but be warned, the portions are huge. It is better to ask for a selection of half scoops so you don't miss out or pig out.

PS: the limoncello flavor is not to be missed.

The service is extremely slow. Every single time I have gone, there is only one worker and it takes 15 minutes to get my ice cream. Your worker situation is unbelievably slow

older lady was short with my kiddo and her friend about boba tea.. kids didn't want tapioca and asked for popping bubbles she got the order wrong but there was a nice assistant that helped out and we got the bubble teas 13 min later... service took forever and on top of that gave the kids a sample spoon for their gelato...

Wasn't very impressed by the lack of customer service. Three people were working and yet none were helping the people in line.I think one was being trained but to leave us all waiting while ignoring the customers, jobs were not being allocated efficiently.Would have been better to deal with the line first and then return to training.I saw a couple people leaving unhappy.I would recommend sticking to the gelato, seems a bit of a gong show for anything else on the menu. The gelato was nice once we got it. I liked that you can get a couple flavors in one cup and lots of vegan choices.

Do NOT eat here. They have so many food-safe issues… will even plate food that’s been dropped on the floor. They also treat their young employees terribly; which can be attested by many customers including myself who have seen the young teenage workers (trying their best) being terribly yelled at by the managers. I would recommend spending your money at other local places who value the health of their customers and also respect their employees.
