I love the food here.
This post is long overdue. Over the last 20 years, I have tried many pork bone soups, but Arirang has always been the one that hit home. Although I'm not Korean, seeing a tour bus full of Korean tourists enjoying their meals with happy faces speaks volumes about the authenticity and flavour of their soup. I’ve been ordering the same soup for many years, and the level of umami is indescribable. Their ribs are just meh; on par with food court quality, ok to skip. But their backbone soup is truly one of a kind. Oh the black cod is finger licking good too 🤤
The best 김치찌개 (kimchi stew) that I've had so far in Canada in the past 40ish years! It's a simple, traditional dish, and as is the case with hamburger, everyone has their own take on how it should be done. Arirang Hot Pot in Guildford sets the standard by which I compare all others.
As to their other Korean dishes, they are also good, but more or less on par with orger good Korean eateries. Ambience isn't too upscale, and almost all of the clientele are Korean, and typically older like me.
They specialize in authentic, traditional Korean fare, and not the 'Korean' fusion food that's become so prevalent of late. It's one of the proverbial 'hole in the wall' eateries that is really found treasure - at least it is for me.
This place is a like a hidden gem some of the best quality authentic Korean food you can get in all of Vancouver and the lower mainland. Pork bone soup, tofu soup, seafood pancake and the cabbage and pork are so good. Also I have yet to try but this place does serve cold noodles in the summer like Korean Cold Noodle Rhapsody on Netflix which I will be excited to try this summer
cabbage wraps with steamed pork / stir fried octopus with thin noodle / hot stone pot bibimbap
we took our 27 yr old granddaughter to this restaurant, she was visiting from Ottawa. She is 1/2 Korean, (mother's side), She told us this is the best authentic Korean food she ever had

A very good Korean restaurant. The potato spine soup I eat here is even better than what I had in Seoul! ! The backbone is tender and tasty! The kimchi is also delicious. It seems to be pickled in the store (I saw many jars in the refrigerator). The waiter is also very enthusiastic! !

Restaurant staff are rude and unkind. They talk very bluntly and are displeased when refilling side dishes( ex. kimchi). This is common sense in Korean restaurants, which are unfriendly to customers who will not see it again. And one employee scolded the customer for saying it wasn't a server table (even though it's the next table!, I understand, but it's rude to explain, so we're angry!) The food for the price is not great either.

This is a famous Daegu stew restaurant with Korean cuisine.
Most of the family-style Korean food is eaten by Koreans. It can be seen that the taste is very Korean, and the boss is as friendly as a family, just like Korean Azuma cuisine. The tofu pot and bibimbap are both delicious.
