We used to come here every time we came to Vancouver. It's definitely run down. The girl who served us was super nice. The food was ok. We had a beef dip with poutine(which came on a separate plate) and a clubhouse sandwich with onion rings(that were very good). Definitely not shy on portions. Their pies and cakes are massive. We didn't have any desserts because we were too full. It's been there forever. Don't expect fancy, but for an old 50's diner, we love it.

Wow I miss Walter. I grew up here. What happened? Service is now slower, restaurant is dirtier and the food gone down hill.

No clean trays. After 30+ years, that's new. Food took forever to get done, not used to waiting so long.

Food is lacking, but now I get this: instead of onion rings, I get the crap in the picture; rings that are too thick and don't get crispy. Plus, they stick together in the deep fryer, don't cook properly and come out RAW and inedible. So not only did I pay for inedible food, but the cook felt it was okay to serve undercooked food to a customer. They don't care.

Everything just seems worse across the board. Roast beef is tough as leather. Flavors seem off. One would have thought that new owners would re energize this place a bit; however the sense I get is that quality control has left the building. After decades, I am left wondering if I'll go back? I certainly was not impressed.

Average at best, food tasteless, bland, staff too, unfriendly and really not a positive experience.
Price for experience not even close!

Fresgos is the best for all their menu items. My personal favorite is the Super Submarine ? and a Peach Juice and the Bakery to take home fresh baked goods.
This place is one of a kind. Be prepared all food portions are huge.

Been frequenting Fresgos since Davie street days. Walter is a wonderful man who is still found cooking up a storm for us to enjoy.

The quality has has gone down
Being coming here for years and the one near English bay
Same old grumpy German owner, Hans
Ate there today and order a mushroom beef sub
They gave me salami which I really don’t like.
Just thought it was a mixup
They said the mushroom sub has the works
I just walked away knowing very well it would not be corrected
The bun was not fresh and the salami was gross
Sad to say I’m done with this place
I supported this place for over 40 years
By the way Hans if you read this you were friends with my dad before he passed
Oh well
