Honestly we had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The dosa was perfectly crispy and full of authentic South Indian flavor — one of the best we’ve had in a long time. I walked into the paan shop expecting a casual post-meal mouth freshener. What I got instead was a full-blown Bollywood experience in my mouth.

The paan guy (who I now refer to as the Leaf Whisperer) asked me if I wanted “Meetha” or “Saada.” I panicked and said, “Surprise me.” Bad idea. Or…best idea?

He slapped that betel leaf down like he was dealing cards at a Vegas table. Cashews, tutti-frutti, coconut, syrup, some mystery...

Royal Paan in Surrey is my go-to spot whenever I’m craving nostalgia. The meetha paan prepared by Senha is always fresh, balanced, and delicious. He’s polite, pleasant, and clearly takes pride in his work. The Falooda Kulfi and Koyoa Kulfi are also excellent — rich and full of authentic flavor.

Unfortunately, the paan made by other staff doesn’t taste the same, and the difference is obvious. Also, if you’re in Vancouver, stick to the Surrey location....
