I really like the chicken teriyaki from Sakuya, it is seared to perfection, also tempura is very nice.

Fabulous sushi restaurant in the heart of Ocean Park. It has been our 'go-to' for years. Consistently delicious and great value. Sumi and Katie are service superstars! Thank you kitchen staff!

This is one of my favorite place to go when I’m craving Japanese food. Their food is always delicious, especially the beef teriyaki is a must, and the servers are friendly even during busy hours. Perfect for take out and eat by the white rock pier!

This place went downhill fast, not sure if it's a one off day or if they recently sold or newly managed. Bring your own bag for takeout? Sushi falling apart, did not use enough sushi rice vinegar and sugar in the sushi rice. Rice was dry. Cuts on rolls were not symmetrical, the takeout bag I had to bring myself was my fault I guess because I didn't know the size of their takeout containers so my bag was too wide so takeout kinda flopped around, by the time I got home noodles leaked, soy sauce leaked and miso soup leaked. If they ran out of bags... grocery store is across the street... You can check my other reviews it takes a lot to disappoint me. I'm a person of punishment so I'll give it another shot in a month or two, if this post is still up it means I have not gone yet or my opinion has not changed. I saw another recent post that describes it as grocery store sushi and I can't agree more.

I ordered a dinner Dragon Boat Teriyaki special, after considering a la carte options. I'm glad I did, as the presentation of the Dragon Boat was lovely, all of the food was delicious, and there was plenty to eat too.
It was especially nice to enjoy a small appy of sunomono, as that's rarely included.
If all of the above weren't enough, this dinner was a steal at $20. I will definitely be back!
The only reason I didn't give 5/5 for the atmosphere is because I was the only one in the restaurant. Come on Whiterock, show some love for this gem of a restaurant, I wish it was closer to my home In Maple Ridge!

I've been going to Sakuya sushi for years and it's always amazing. The food is delicious 😋 huge portions for an unbeatable price. They always take care when handling foods for people with allergies. The owner is a super sweet lady. Very understanding when it comes to food customization. #1 sushi spot 😊
