Shawarma Palace Surrey

I’ve ordered from this place through DoorDash, and honestly, it’s disappointing compared to their other locations. I’m adding photos from this Surrey branch and one from Ottawa, both cost $24, but the portion from Surrey is barely a quarter of the size.

Ottawa location did include bread on the side too, but this was not the case here. The rice, chicken, garlic sauce, hummus, and veggies are all much less than what other locations serve for the same price. Really not fair for the money. I hope management reviews this because the quality and portion difference are unacceptable. Moreover, quantity should not vary that much depending on location since they both are charging same amount of money and using same brand name.

Thank you for the review brother and thanks for taking time to write a nice paragraph for everybody to read but unfortunately we don't live in Ottawa. We are in British Columbia where of litre cost $1.42currently whereas Ottawa is dollar $1.10 a litter. Hope that answer your question and no, we don't sell our platters for $24. Our plates are $17.50 for now. Thank you.

First of all, I want to clarify that I’m not a hater at all — I’m genuinely a big shawarma enthusiast. I’ve tried shawarma in multiple cities across Canada. After exploring different spots here, I can honestly say that Shawarma Palace Surrey is better than many competitors in the area, including Jerusalem or other well known chains.

My comment is strictly about portion size relative to price.

In my review, I was specifically referring to DoorDash pricing, not in-store purchases. On DoorDash, both Shawarma Palace Surrey and Shawarma Palace Ottawa list platters at $24, so from a customer’s point of view, it’s fair to compare what’s being offered at the same listed price. That’s why the $17.50 in-store price doesn’t apply to the comparison I was making.

I completely understand that the Lower Mainland is generally more expensive. However, even when I compare this with downtown Toronto, where the cost of living is definitely not lower than Surrey, the portions are still noticeably larger. That’s why the quantity difference stood out to me.

I can also provide photos from Toronto — including from Sumac, alpha shawarma, messi shawarma, one of the top sellers there — where platter sizes through delivery apps are significantly larger. I’m not expecting Ottawa-level portions, but for a $24 platter, at least a full plate would feel reasonable. When the portion feels closer to a half or quarter plate, it’s difficult to justify calling it a platter.

That said, I genuinely want to give your location another chance. I’d be happy to come back, update my experience, and change my review to a much more positive one. My only request is better consistency in portion size so customers feel they’re getting fair value for what they’re paying.

We go there very often and really like the food but we witnessed declining quality of food. Got a chicken kafta platter today and it had a long hair inside the kafta which probably got inside while the prepration of kaftas.

Very Disappointing Experience
This was my first time visiting this place, and unfortunately it will be my last. The customer service was extremely poor. The staff member who served me, named Raj, was very rude and unprofessional. There was no respect toward customers, and the attitude made the experience uncomfortable.

Good food cannot make up for bad service. Customer service matters, especially for first-time customers. I would not recommend this place based on my experience.

Shawarma Palace Surrey is always a solid choice. The food tastes fresh, the portions are generous, and the staff treats you well. Their shawarma is packed with flavour and the place feels welcoming every time you visit.

The quantity of meat or spicy potatoes in shawarma platter doesn’t justify its price- it used to be in good portions but since last two month, its terrible- also quality isn’t good. The meat is stiff and potatoes are cold. I went in today to order one but watching the amount of food, I left.

You’d think this is an authentic Middle Eastern shawarma place, but you’d be so wrong. Meat tasted dull/old with mo flavour. Wrap paper was stuck on the bread. Washrooms not working. Very disappointed.

I ordered the chicken shawarma platter and was really impressed. The quantity was great, and the quality of the meat was solid too. Service was quick and easy, which I really appreciated.
