Pleasant eatery with great views. Entrees and sides a la carte so on the pricier end. Great wine list. Food artfully presented. Waitstaff short a bartender for the evening. Our waiter, Dave, was sociable and suitably attentive. Kitchen was a little slow. Overall nice dinner.
My group (6 of us) came here from a friend recommendation. We had high hopes walking in with the Harbour views and the beautiful pizza oven. The experience wasn't great, very slow service. It took over an hour for our food with only one visit from the server when she brought our drinks. I don't mind slow service but would have made the experience more enjoyable to have acknowledgement that we weren't forgotten or the opportunity to order another round of drinks (if she came back earlier). Two people in the party ordered a burger and felt it was below average, but the pizzas were very good.
This is a very expensive restaurant with good tasting food but very small portions. The mains and sides were good, as rated by the three people in my group. We all agreed you should skip the dessert - a lot of deconstructed selections with too many competing tastes. Strawberry meringue was tart as was the blackberry tart (? maybe a west coast thing)- we tried all 3 desserts and didn't really like any of them. Service and setting were excellent!
Great service, great food, great view. We wanted to try the halibut steak dinner for two, but they were sold out (darn) so we decided on two salads and a pizza instead. All of it was delicious and our server was so sweet and attentive. We'll be back next time we visit.
Right on the water. Pizza was excellent and the scenery was beautiful. You can watch the Eagles fly over.
Great view, but we waited 30 minutes to place our food order. Another server dropped the food off without a word and nobody checked in on us for the rest of the meal. We had to flag our server down to get the bill. Food was OK, but not worth the terrible service.
The only waterfront dining we saw in town, with excellent views of the harbour and islands. Seeing a bald eagle during dinner was worth an extra star! Food quality and choices were top-notch, as was the drink menu. Enthusiastic and efficient servers. Part of the Tofino resort at the south end of Tofino; you don't see the pub and adjoining 1909 restaurant until you go down a steep driveway.
Enjoyed a relaxed lunch on arrival to Tofino, fish sandwich and salad with a cold Tofino brew. Rounded off the lunch when a pod of orcas swam by.
Buzzy and fun restaurant/pub. I had the fish sandwich which was like the most amazing version of a filet-o-fish (that’s a compliment!) - super fresh fish perfectly battered and fried and just the right amount of tartar sauce on a soft bun. Perfect. Our server was upbeat and adorable. A great evening.
Had 3 prebooked meals there and all of them were very poor. Salads were the only good thing, even tuna sandwiches were of stale dry bread with no butter or mayo - dry and most people sent these back. Roast beef dinners were sent back 2 to 3 times leaving some people with no dinner at all. Do not recommend this place except the scenery is outstanding.

The Hatch Pub was great! But has now been combined into 1909, the restaurant beside. Outside signage is still up and misleading.Yes, it has a fantastic view and patio. But over all it’s way over priced. Super slow service, arrived with kids, yet no offer of a kids menu, until I mentioned it via looking online myself. And $22 for a 10” pepperoni pizza? We got in and out and went elsewhere to fill up.Overpriced and slow service.
The service was appalling. We were left to eat off a dirty sticky table until after our food was served. We had a pizza which was way undercooked. We had such a long wait for our food. When we said the pizza was poor all the waitress said was, wasn't her service any good, just worried about her tip. To be fair, they took one pizza off the bill, but there was a pizza left uneaten because it was horribly soggy. It was a terrible evening with appalling food and terrible service. It was a very, very expensive mistake and money is tight right now.
Very disappointed. My husbands very expensive burger was over cooked, dry and tasteless. The fries were over cooked and looked like they came from the bottom of a McCain’s bag. They had no prawns, service was very slow and our friend had to finally go to the bar to order more drinks. Plenty of staff around and not overly busy so no reason for this. Won’t be going back.
The food was delicious! However, I find it difficult to justify 3 wing sized pieces of breaded chicken for almost $20 (no side dishes... just 3 small pieces and a sauce). Most of their dishes are what they call "shareable" but it's hard to determine that by looking at the menu. The location is excellent. If you have auditory sensitivities, maybe try the dinning room, the bar side seemed excessively loud and that was with the hockey game on mute.
I loved this restaurant. Showed up late on a Wednesday night around 930pm. The kitchen was just about to close but the staff kept it open just a little a later for myself and my gf. We ordered the Prosciutto pizza, roasted cauliflower and bruschettea. All were absolutely fantastic. We also had the turtle roll cocktails that were by far my favorite drinks in Tofino. But the best part was Jenna!! Her energy was contagious. Loved her she was the highlight of that dinner. Thanks Jenna hope to be back soon!!!
