Our fishing crew had a wonderful experance at this down to earth, fun and lively restaurant.
We were greeted at front door with a bussing packed restaurant and the had a great time.
Cocktails by James at the bar were great to watch and drink.
The kitchen crew also kicked it out of the park with seafood chowder, the grand admrial steak and other great steaks far too much food to mention. Everything was great. Food came out hot and cooked perfectly to how we asked. You can tell when good people are doing good things and the staff goes above and beyond. Look forward to coming back next year, only wished it was sooner.

Thank you Mackenzie and the staff at The Schooner Restaurant!
The food was absolutely delicious with amazing presentation, flavours and textures.
Please plan ahead and make a reservation to take some stress out of your dinner.
For drinks we had the margarita and longer island. We had the tenderloin and the hot pot for our meals. Finished with the creme brule and crumble.
It was all mouthwatering. Hopefully we can come back again someday.

Without question the best food, people and atmosphere in Tofino. This place may have been the highlight of our two week west coast adventure. Now don’t kid yourself - you absolutely need a reservation for this experience. I would go as far as calling our time here a core memory for our family. Let’s start with the food - we started with the Bacon Wrapped Scallops and every bit of these morsels from heaven were absolutely delicious - I fought my wife for the last one but sadly lost (and there were tears involved). For the main I wanted to try something local so I went with the Long Boarding Salmon which to nobody’s surprise was perfectly cooked on a thin plank of cedar with accompaniments that were as perfect as anything could be to go with the Salmon. Now - when we were in line the family behind us came in just for the Vanilla Crème Brûlée so it only made sense that we gave that a try (the locals can’t be wrong) and now we know why people line up for it - amazing. But on our gluttonous escapade we were lured into to also trying the Triple Berry Crumble and it was at least three times better than any crumble I’ve ever had. So yeah the food was pretty dam extraordinary. We sat outside on the patio and as the sun set the ambiance was nothing short of perfection with cozy seating, good conversation and laughter all around. The final ingredient our magnificent evening was the people. We had fun and fantastic conversations with both our server and host / manager that made us laugh and feel like we were dining with our extended family if only for one meal. We will for ever be grateful for the time we spent here.

Excellent. The only restaurant in Tofino that we visited twice
Very welcoming staff and good service. The prices are higher, but the quality is supreme and worth it 👌

As first-time visitors to Tofino, we were excited to try one of the area's most well-known seafood restaurants. While the food certainly lived up to expectations, the overall experience was impacted by a few daunting service-related issues.
Upon arrival, the signage and website clearly stated “reservations only,” so we were surprised to see the walk-in guests ahead of us not only seated immediately but also given prime seating and noticeably more attentive service. Despite having a reservation, we were asked to wait several minutes for a table to be cleaned, which dampened the initial impression.
At this price point (approximately $150–$200 for two), we expected a more knowledgeable level of service. Unfortunately, our server seemed unfamiliar with key menu items, including the two most premium dishes, and provided the same information we read from the menu rather than offering any informed recommendations or insights.
Additionally, we had noted dietary restrictions at the time of booking, but there appeared to be no preparation or awareness of this at the table. This led to repeated questions and clarification during the meal which were not followed through, which disrupted the flow of the dining experience.
That said, the food itself was excellent, and it’s clear the kitchen delivers at a high standard. We simply hoped for a level of service and hospitality to match the cuisine. With some attention to front-of-house consistency and staff training, this restaurant could truly offer the outstanding experience its reputation suggests.
