We ordered the charcuterie brunch board and it was delicious. The yoghurt granola bowl was the highlight. And our server was so kind about modifying the cheese to accommodate my dietary restriction. Will definitely be coming back for this.

It was a great evening. I wouls suggest perhaps having a few more good items available. Also the music was great but could have been a little louder and it would be great to have dancing avalable towards the end of the venue and continue it as an evening out with dancing. It would attract more people to stay rather than have thier drink and canapes and leave right after. Thanks

Absolutely charming bistro upstairs at the Vancouver Art Gallery. The space is grand and cosy at the same time and in the good weather the rooftop patio is very pleasant. The menu choices for brunch are excellent and the service is friendly and helpful. Just a lovely place to visit with friends, meet for business or entertain one's family. The food and the coffee is fabulous. Highly recommend. Make a reservation.

Very attentive service, beautifully presented menu items arrived promptly at appropriate temperature. Amazing octopus! Delicious cocktails. We've enjoyed 1931 Bistro before, and will definitely keep returning.

What's not to like? The restaurant takes reservations, my sablefish and latte were wonderful and very reasonably priced. A good menu of offerings.

Always a great experience at 1931 Gallery Bistro. Easy to make a reservation, and the text reminders are very helpful. Wonderful ambience...especially when the weather permits sitting outside. Love the menu choices, and the flexibility of a brunch or lunch menu. Service is always great.

Stopped by on a weekday afternoon. We got a seat at the patio, the vibe was good, got to enjoy quite a bit of sunshine. Ordered platter, beef cappatio, and buratta. Food and drinks were really good.

I'd appreciate 1931 Gallery Bistro contacting me to discuss our experience. What would have otherwise been a delightful meal was ruined by the exceptionally rude treatment of a guest in our party by waitstaff.

The level of incompetence and the lack of care is staggering. I went with two others approximately three weeks ago and was over charged. I was not the only person overcharged as it happened to the table next to us as well. The bill was double what it should have been. When I requested a refund I was told that was not possible without a manager on site. The options I was given was to come back the next day (I live in white rock) or leave my information so the manager can contact me the next day. In the three weeks since then I have not been reached out to by anyone. They are either incompetent or malicious. DO NOT EAT HERE. 0/10.

This is kind of a hidden gem, at least, if you are not going for high tea or brunch. We went for date night. Happy hour Saturday 8pm-10pm. Really good smoked salmon flatbread. The Bistro burger was also excellent. Good selection of beers on tap, cocktails, etc. It was also tastefully decorated. We were pretty much the only people there. It is a little hidden away. Address is Hornby, but we could only find it on Howe. Just above the skating rink and the UBC sign.

I mean, service, food, drinks, really all good. Priced reasonably in my opinion. Happy hour just made it that much more reasonable. Atmosphere was a little too mellow. But hopefully people discover this place and that changes.

This place is really dead for dinner. It is unfortunate because the food is pretty good and reasonably priced. We went for happy hour. The salmon flat bread with cream cheese was good. The sliders too were good.

Since the Indonesian food festival ended up being a bust (we tried three places—only to find all of them closed or out of stock; it felt like they could have done better with inventory management), we decided to eat at the nearby, recently opened 1931 Gallery Bistro (part of the Vancouver Art Gallery). I had been here before for an event (they host large groups), so I wanted to try their regular menu.

Overall impression, the service could definitely be improved in terms of attentiveness, though I know they just recently started operating. We had to wait quite a while to place our order and to ask for the cheque. However, the food and coffee tasted pretty good and were reasonably priced.

For our lunch, we decided to share the following three dishes—which, somehow, all ended up being vegetarian (though not on purpose):
* Spring Vegetable Flatbread ($16): An unexpected favorite for me. It's a simple dish but wonderfully executed—perfect for hot weather. Crispy bread topped with zucchini, tomato, arugula, and goat cheese, served with a balsamic glaze.
* Cauliflower Steak ($25): A classic dish I usually enjoy; however, the execution this time could be improved. The smaller florets were quite oily, and the cauliflower itself was rather bland. The ratio of bean purée and herb chimichurri felt off compared to the size of the cauliflower.
* Mushroom & Pea Risotto ($23): This was definitely the prettiest dish, thanks to its bright green color. It tasted fine, but I was expecting a stronger mushroom flavor. The dish lacked the lusciousness you'd typically expect from a risotto (though the parmesan chips were a fun touch).

Still great spot for lunch. Recommend the salmon bowl. All ingredients were fresh and very tasty. Server was very helpful with suggestions.
