I've been here a couple times from a recommendation from a coworker. It's OK. The food is usually bland. It can also be a bit pricey depending on what you get. However, the cocktails are OK. The service can be it or miss if you get a table. However, I wouldn't recommend sitting at the bar since the service is consistently worse at the bar with the bartenders that work there and was the final straw where I stopped going here. Personally, wouldn't recommend.

Our dinner was delicious! We shared the scallops and beet salad to start, both were mouthwatering and so extremely enjoyable! For our main course two of us had the Black Cod, which melted in my mouth and everything that accompanied it was divine! The third entree was the Bavette D'aloyau, and it was perfectly cooked and delectable. The service was outstanding making the whole experience extremely memorable for my first time. I will be back!
An amazing experience eating au comptoir! Service was excellent (shoutout Laurent and Julien), food and coffee was delicious, latte art was beautiful and our water was constantly topped up. 10/10

Came here for a birthday and was pretty impressed! I thought that the food and drinks here were really good with a very selective dinner menu. The service was very warm and welcoming and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Everything was perfect and the waiters paid great attention to detail, they did however forget my second drink until I reminded them but overall we had a wonderful experience.

rudest service experiences and racist server!!!
The server (a very tall and skinny man) was outright disrespectful. My husband simply ordered a glass of rosé, and the server was like :“Oh, you know nothing about wine, right? You pretended well.”
I don’t know if he thought he was being funny, but it was rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional. After that comment, he barely acknowledged our table for the rest of the night. As the only Asian couple in the restaurant, the way he treated us made the whole experience feel racially biased and unwelcoming.
The food didn’t help the situation either. It was average.Between the rude attitude, uncomfortable atmosphere, and mediocre food, this visit was extremely unpleasant. We will not be coming back, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This was already my 3rd time came here for this confit duck meat salad and I keep coming back.
As always, the servers are polite, welcoming and good sense of humour. They like to make customers smile.
Without a long wait my group of 3 got the table. The table was cleaned properly. It didn’t take a long wait to order.
The duck salad has a rich mix of fresh of assorted seasonal salad veggies, pouched eggs and of course the duck meat. The duck oil elevated the dish and made every bite full of enjoyment. No doubt it is a must try for this season.

Nice smaller setting where the food and service was great. The big surprise for me was the value. Prices were average for this type of restaurant however the portion size was significantly larger than expected.we will definitely be returning. We came away very happy with every aspect of our meal and experience.

Au Comptoir delivers a genuine Parisian bistro experience right here in Kitsilano, complete with a beautiful tin bar and warm, inviting ambiance.
The food was delicious—comforting, flavorful, and totally worth every bite.
Their desserts are pure magic—elegant, indulgent, and always the perfect sweet ending.

Lovely little spot with a mostly traditional French menu. We had the Coquilles St. Jacques, two different salads, and the Wagu tartare, plus nice glasses of chablis and a sav blanc. Wait staff is very good and the ambience is traditional French bistrot (small tables, black & white tiled floors, nice lighting. Have been before and will eat there again..
I have never had a less than excellent meal at Au Comptoir and last night was no exception. As always the staff were friendly and helpful, the recommended wine delicious and our main courses great. Bravo for the mushroom paté!
Did feel like one was in France, especially with the French waiters...food was on point and service was very good. Someone I was with broke a tooth on the French bread, very unfortunate. Bit loud but in a good way......fun time.
Probably the best casual French dining experience in the city. I have been here for lunch and dinner on multiple occasions, and it's always wonderful.
I would say, the food is not the absolute top tier of French cuisine, but it's also not priced or presented that way, it provides classics interpreted in a novel way suitable for Vancouver, for example, they do and have done things like mackerel, hokkaido scallops and wagyu on their menu which was a little bit more west coast than strictly French.
My absolute favorite dish when they have it is their Duck Confit, which I've had both in a salad and as a main. Absolutely to die for.
Other than that, the cozy atmosphere, easy accessibility, good drinks menu, and dessert, while restrained, are always a treat. A must-try Vancouver staple!
