I find banana leaf to be a bit hit or miss lately. I still love some of the classics (roti, sambal green beans), but have had some issues with service over the years.Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options.

I am pleased to say the Banana Leaf got my‘Worst Vancouver Restaurant of the year’ award. I believe this is impossible without the staff effort. Last week I wait around 1 hour before getting my salty and slime-like noodle, and there is no service during that time. You cannot ask any help from the waitress, because they are all chatting behind the kitchen?.

The food was delicious! This used to be my favourite restaurant years ago but had stopped coming in as I noticed the quality had went downhill. But yesterday I decided to give it a try again and Im happy that the quality went back to the restaurant I used to loved. Ordered the Mee Goreng, Pineapple friend rice, eggplant fries and Roti Canai and all of them were delicious! Especially in love with the Mee Goreng. Will definitely keep coming back again

Bad experience, it took 50mins to get the food after we ordered. Bad attitude and no apologies. No one asks you if everything ok from start to finish. The Laksa tastes same as food court.

The food is OUTSTANDING! They have great prices, especially at happy hour! Josh and the other staff were compassionate and accommodating when I forgot to ask if there was dairy in the pineapple seafood rice? They made me a brand new one, dairy free no charge?????? Thank YOU JOSH and Banana Leaf??

I am surpise that they had such comfortable environment and the portion is a lot larger than other SE asia restaurant. It is probably one of the best in lower mainland.Pineapple fried rice has a good presentation. Roti Canai has a very nice texture but the sauce favor is lacking and it is not enough sauce for us. Hainanese chicken is very tender and a lot larger portion than other restaurant. Surprisely Tom Yum Goong soup (Thai cuisine) is so good even my younger one drink a bowl (he don't like spicy) but the portion of soup is rather small. Curry beef brisket is stewed way too long (nobody like it) Fried banana ice cream has a goof texture and probably one of the best in lower mainland while the mango sticky rice is also good but can be better if they use Philippine mango (less sour). The 3 layer milk tea is literally same taste as the Bubba shop brown sugar milk tea while the other tea is similar as Thai milk tea but without spice. I personally feel like if they provide banana leaf as a dish (this was how I ate my food in Malaysia) it will be a lot better. Another comment is they add a lot of peanut on their dish without warningIt still has a lot more I want to try. Perhaps I write a review next time I visit again

Outstanding Malaysian food. The lamb stew is exceptional. My only complaint is that the eggplant was underdone.

Great range of dishes, each with its own unique flavors making for an interesting and enjoyable meal. The Gulai seafood Thursday special, was a generous tasty coconut curry seafood mixture that went well with some coconut rice and sambal green beans. The eggplant fries were a nice light starter, and the Hokkien mee was quite authentic. Service was friendly and attentive.

Asked for a takeout dish to be made without beef. It came with lots of beef, leading me to have beef ;( This has also happened once before, but usually they accommodate this request... bummer.

The waiter was super friendly! You can see straight into the kitchen and see the cooks hard at work. The wicker lanterns are festive and the hanging plants give this restaurant lots of atmosphere. The booth seats are so great for kids and families dining together. The food was authentic and delicious. And if you want it spicier you can always ask them to increase the heat. Or take it away if you want it mild.
