I had a terrible and disturbing experience at this venue. While waiting outside, I witnessed other customers being allowed in without reservations, while I and others were left outside for a long time. It genuinely felt like people were being treated differently based on appearance and that was deeply upsetting.
When I finally got in and calmly asked to speak with a manager, the staff member at the door suddenly became aggressive and physically grabbed me without warning. I was not asked to leave I was forcefully removed while standing there respectfully and sober.
I am currently exploring legal options. What happened to me was unacceptable, and I hope no one else has to go through it. I strongly advise others especially people from marginalized backgrounds to be cautious when visiting this place.
I had an extremely disappointing experience at Banter Room Vancouver Bar. The door staff were shockingly rude and discriminatory. While they let almost everyone else in without hesitation, they deliberately refused us entry for no valid reason. When we politely asked why, they were dismissive and condescending.
It’s unacceptable in 2025 to still experience this kind of disrespect and gatekeeping, especially in a city that prides itself on diversity and inclusion. This behavior reflects very poorly on the management of the venue. I will absolutely never return and I would not recommend this place to anyone who values basic decency and fair treatment.
Avoid this bar there are plenty of better places in Vancouver where people are treated with respect.
Wonderful happy hour. Avocado bruschetta is the best.
I’m just sharing my opinion on the food, as this place seems to focus more on drinks. The food quality was quite low overall. The beef slider was okay but lacked flavor, and the crispy chicken pasta was underwhelming—it didn’t have much taste. However, the tapenade olives with burrata cheese were more satisfying.
Nice place, very busy. It's one of our go too when in Yaletown.
I recently stopped by the Banter Room for drinks (Saturday night June 14), and I was thoroughly impressed by the service. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and attentive. The manager, Tyler I think her name was, went above and beyond to accommodate us, promptly finding us a table on the patio to enjoy the atmosphere.
Had an amazing night at The Banter Room! Even on a packed evening, Tyler made us feel like we were the only ones there. She managed the front door and floor like a pro—welcoming, calm, and totally in control. The drinks were creative and absolutely delicious, and the service was quick and seamless. Tyler truly elevated the whole experience. We’ll definitely be back!

If you're not native to Van, and are missing a bit of that Ossington or King West vibe, this is the spot. The star rating is waaaaaay out to lunch. The establishment doesn't cater to riff raff and thankfully you will have to act respectfully. I'd imagine some of that is the cause of the low star rating. Try for your

The perfect way to kick off the evening of going to The Eras Tour. Our server was so sweet and fast, the ambiance was amazing and the food exceeded our expectations. We loved the Photo Booth feature and the fact that Taylor music was playing the whole time. <3

Dropped by for a quick Sunday happy hour. We weren't really sure what to make of the place with a DJ booth in the corner and hockey playing at the bar.
I can say the food was amazing though! If you do come by during happy hour, I'd recommend getting one of everything on the menu.
The drinks however all tasted the same, overly watered down with citrus. We ordered the Mango Tap cocktail, and the Lychee Mothaf** only for them both to taste very similar.

Gave the wrong dish, then told the customer that the order they wanted was out, but why not tell them from the start? No sincere attempts were made to resolve the situation, instead tried to force another dish on the customer. Chia pudding was not fresh. Previously came for happy hour, the rice from salmon sushi was frozen and tasted like a brick. Took forever to even bring water to the table. By the time the water arrived, we were half way through the meal lol. Will never come again. Plenty of much better restaurants nearby! Maybe it’s because I’m not white because my experience was visibly substandard compared to neighbouring tables which were all white people.
