My impression is that this place is designed to introduce Chinese cuisine to NON-ASIANs - the waitress even tried to explain what’s potsticker, what’s dark vinegar, and what’s sichuan peppercorns etc.

We liked the restaurant vibe and food overall, especially how it added the Southeast Asian twist such as laksa, sweet soy sauce, and some other seasonings. Food portion is reasonable. The cocktails tasted great! The only dish that’s kinda disappointing was the Sable fish which was overly salty on the top but wasn’t flavored enough inside.

I don’t think I’ll come back again or recommend it to anyone though given how many authentic Asian places there are in the city but kudos to the chefs who created an amazing menu.

Great shared plates concept! Highly recommend. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options.

Note - the tock waitlist is only for a notification. Have to go in person to actually join the waitlist.

Not for everybody. But, it's a decent drinking establishment that pretends to serve Chinese food. Food being subpar, the essence/spirit of Chinese food is lost, you can get better at the local T&T Supermarket. To sum up Bao Bei, it is more for Caucasian people that are too intimidated to go to an actual Chinese restaurant.

This restaurant is our family’s favorite! We make a point to visit every time we come to Vancouver. The atmosphere is delightful, the food interesting flavors (try the specials), cocktails delicious, and the staff is lovely. For the first time we had leftovers; fried rice, which makes a delicious breakfast!

Incredible food, ate predominantly vegetarian/vegan but I myself had the spicy chicken at our table and it was so very tasty. Loved every dish, cocktails were amazing, good vibes and great music. A must eat in Vancouver.

Great experience at Bao Bei. We came without booking and got a table within 10mn. The atmosphere is great even if the music can be a little bit too loud sometimes. The food is great. Nice place to bring your date

Bao Bei served up an elevated fresh take on traditional Chinese dishes.... and everything was fantastic! I highly recommend the cucumber small bite and the fried rice topped with an omelette... those were our favorites. The atmosphere had a lively and casual vibe and the service team was top notch!
