The staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. There are plenty of options available at reasonable prices.
I love Bao Down! It’s always been such a good go-to. Their bao buns are always my favourite and I think the vibe is super cool as well!
Not a fan. We had dinner here with and the baos weren't anything special, especially for a Bao place! Crinkle cut fries were very obviously cooked from frozen and very bland.
Never seen the place busy every time I pass it on a daily basis, even at happy hour. The new Thai place next door is incredible so will always be the much better option in the area for us.
Wish I had combed through the reviews before sitting down and ordering at this resturant.
Went on a Saturday afternoon where there was a table of 6, 2 and 2 with many other open seats. There were 3 people managing the front of the resturant and at least two in the back.
Everyone was very kind, but it seemed as if our server didn’t know the menu. We ordered deep fried gyoza (menu says pan vs deep fried) and 4 boa buns. We had to show him on the menu (physically point) as he didn’t know what we were talking about wrt the gyoza.
It took 40 minutes to get the gyoza that came out pan fried. We asked our server who didn’t understand our question only to have the other server tell us that it was in fact deep fried (clearly was not). She offered to have them redone. we then waited another 10-15 for our boa buns (now 50-55 min since ordering).
The boa buns were ok. I don’t think they were fresh, likely frozen and steamed buns. The chicken was quite good and crunchy. We finished our boa and waited probably 20 minutes from getting our boa for our gyoza that had been “deep fried longer” only to see that they were again pan fried (see below photo) to a greater degree than previous.
The spot was in a great location and had a cool ambience and has great potential. I sensed they had bitten off more than they can chew with a very large menu for starters. From front staff not knowing the menu and back staff unable to execute the menu nor deliver in a timely fashion.
We sat beside another couple who had very long waits on food and incorrect orders.
Will not be returning.
This place used to be amazing. Food was on point, service was good and wait times were completely reasonable. Not sure what changed but the service was abysmal. It was like someone was just “helping out” that had zero serving experience and even less menu knowledge. It was cringe worthy.
The food took so long, it was laughable and it wasn’t even busy. There were at most 4 tables (mostly pairs, no large parties) at all times and no communication or explanation given for why the food took almost an hour.
This used to be a go-to spot for me but I’ll be changing that.
Funky lunch/dinner spot in Olympic Village.
I've come a couple times for the 4 baos for $25 (4 for $20 on Wednesdays). They've got so many baos (& other dishes) to choose from, including a few different veg options. The MISS Impossible is my favourite!
Our company ordered food here through Foodee. The amount of servings was huge than we were expecting. The amount that we paid per meal was great! Not expensive for the big meal that they gave us. And the taste of food was delicious! Thank you for Bao Down!!
We had the best time trying all the Bao!!! From traditional to the McDowell (yes it’s a play on what you think) we rocked the 4 for $25.
Our inner fat kids were very happy- need to leave room for dessert next time
I loved the new brunch menu. I’d love to go back and check out the Bao menu as well
Love this cute place for brunch! We so needed a cute and cozy spot for brunch in the area.
Food was delicious and plated nicely. We had Bourbon bacon eggs benny and avocado toast with poached eggs and scrambled eggs on toast. Absolutely Delicious! Benny sauce was to die for!
I recommend this place.

If I could give any less than 0 I would. Worst experience ever. I take my fiancé for a Birthday meal and they treat us like garbage. The orders were super late and wrong. The food got there before the drinks and then they come and tell us they can't complete our order because they don't have the ingridients. Worst experience in a restaurant ever. We canceled our orders and went to oay for whay he actually got. And on top of that they chage us 18% tax for something they didn't know how to explain Food's good but really is not worth it with the HORRIBLE service.
Amazing dishes that blend culture and really leave you satisfied. Absolutley love the food here and would recommend everyone to give it a try.
Love the happy hour here
Easy lunch
BowDown in Olympic Village has really stepped up lately. With new members at the kitchen and a revamped menu, the food has gone from decent to impressive. Matthew, the owner, clearly pours his heart into the place, making sure the quality stays high. The Latin-Filipino fusion menu feels fresh and exciting unlike anything else in the area. I especially recommend their taco also the Brussel Sprouts!
What I also really appreciate is how affordable it is, especially for Olympic Village. In a neighborhood where eating out often feels like a splurge, BowDown manages to offer great food at a reasonable price. They do a lot of takeout and catering, but honestly, eating in is the way to go. The vibe is casual, and Matthew is always around, making everyone feel welcome. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, grab a drink, and catch up with friends without feeling rushed.
