The food at Mon Pitou was okay, but it felt a bit expensive for what you get. The atmosphere on the other hand was cozy and comfortable, making it pleasant to sit and enjoy. Overall, it was an okay experience, more enjoyable for the ambiance than the food itself.

I decided to pop into this location this week and enjoyed my visit. I had the cortado and a croissant. The cortado was strong and well balanced and the croissant was flakey just how I like them. I will be stopping in here more often to get out of the rain and enjoy some hot beverages and food.

Wow this is a wonderful place for a great cup of tea and coffee. I visited there today and had London fog with a delicious cookie. The atmosphere is warm, inviting and staff were very kind. I highly recommend this cafe it’s very cozy. I love the art, pictures and beautiful plants. I was genuinely so surprised with the new changes to the cafe. The lighting was so calming and relaxing and the music was soft and beautiful. I will be visiting every weekend to decompress and enjoy my London fog. Well done to the new owners for the beautiful art. It’s very talented!

Been visiting this place more than a year after moving to Vancouver. I absolutely agree that this place is soulless after the renovation and they also removed the piano and my favorite iced lemon tea! Why!!??
The service was not same especially the staff in pink was not welcoming like she had a bad day before her shift.
Overall, this place used to be a community center where people in the neighborhood came to meet and had conversations at.

Post review before reno: One of my favorite places in mount pleasant. The atmosphere is so cozy and comfortable. It feels like you sit in a nice community space sharing your vibes with your neighbors. Their muffins, coffee and drinks are very nice. Sometimes you can hear someone playing the piano as a background music.

Such a gem of a coffee shop! Cozy vibe, good service, open late, and I almost always manage to find a spot.

Love it here! This place has become a staple for me due to the unpretentious atmosphere, friendly staff, great snacks and coffee. The refurbishment has made this location a brighter yet it still retains its cosy feel. Definitely doesn’t deserve a one star review- I have been here many times and have always had a consistently positive experience.

Just started charging for to go cups (0.25) after bumping up all their prices (and getting rid of the punch card for frequent visitors). New management is finding new ways to reduce quality and increase prices.

And despite their attempts to warm up the vibe in the place the new renovations still feel soulless. Especially with the uncomfortable seating with no padding.

The vibe of the cafe has shifted since the change over and nothing for the better.

New owners ruined the place

This is a one minute walk away from where I live. But with the new ownership and the stale renovations, I'd much rather travel 20 minutes up the road and go to Aperture Coffee. BATW has higher prices but lost all character. Where is the art? Where is the cozy furniture? No punch card system? I'm willing to accept changes, but they replaced the old things with...nothing.

Something feels off, I don’t like the cheap renovation, and they don’t even offer the stamp card anymore. The place has lost the charm it once had.

I am seeing a lot of hate about the renovations on here. I get it, change sucks! I recently walked in and was floored by the change. It looks so fresh, clean, open and bright! I am obsessed! The iced coffee’s are amazing and there are not enough words in the english language for my love for the sausage rolls! Also huge shock over all the gluten free options. So impressed with Bean on main. I don’t usually love change but keep up with the positive changes!!’

As a OG Mount Pleasant local, BATW Main St *was* THE HUB for a good cozy late night study or a quick coffee. I recently moved away from the neighbourhood but would always return to get work done, hang with a friend, and more! I can attest that the worn-in and well-loved cozy atmosphere is what set this place apart from all the new and upcoming sterile places in the neighbourhood. The direction the new owners took to this neighbourhood favourite was not it. It doesn't look LOVED anymore. It looks cold. It looks basic. I can easily go to another coffee shop if I wanted the same vibe. I hope they reintroduce the well-loved character this spot had. Please bring back the cushions, the dark furniture, the swivel chairs, the beanbags, and the clock!

*I never post reviews but the renovations really broke my heart. I really hope the new owners read this 💔
