I was really hoping this cafe would become one of my regular go-to spots. However, I didn’t feel like I could get comfortable here.
There was no warmth from the woman who took my order; her face looked very emotionless. 😕 I ordered a Spanish breakfast wrap and hot chocolate. I chose the Spanish breakfast wrap because, based on their labels, the other wraps had more cheese and I try to avoid eating lots of cheese due to my low lactose tolerance. To my dismay, the Spanish wrap looked and tasted like it was fully stuffed with cheese and potatoes, not at all what I’d expect when I read “Spanish”. The hot chocolate tasted a little powdery and a bit too sweet.
The only good service I received was when another female employee smiled at me when she passed me the wrap with both hands. I appreciate it when someone hands me something with both hands, as it looks more respectful, but I acknowledge that this is a matter of cultural preference and not something that should be expected.
Unlike what some reviewers said, I didn’t find this cafe particularly quiet, maybe because I went at lunchtime. There was a customer who walked in, sat at a table next to mine, and kept looking over at me, which made me feel more uncomfortable (not the cafe’s fault of course, so no point docked for this).
I’m a sucker for pecan tarts, but the pecan tarts here were overpriced ($5 versus $3 at some local bakeries) and looked unappealing.
I’ll keep looking around for my kind of hot chocolate and pecan tart. 🙂

I have always loved this cafe with its gelato and soup menu. Only drawback I have seen is that some items were discontinued like the macaroons. Other than that, I recommend this place. Good customer service from their Japanese employee!

This is a great little cafe. I've gotten food and coffee from here 2 days in a row (staying across the street). The food has been delicious, fresh, and prepared/presented well. The coffees have been great (Illy coffee). The only thing that could use improvement is the manner of the service. The service has been prompt and correct; but of the 5 employees I've encountered only one has had a smile or made me feel like they were happy for my business. I suspect if they improved that one thing; they would be super busy.
