TLDR: Great food, good atmosphere but I would think twice about having a celebration or birthday as they don’t seem to care about making your night special even with prior communication.
I was really disappointed with my experience here last night. I made a reservation three weeks in advance and emailed them specifically requesting the curved booth on the second floor for my partner’s birthday. We had been seated there before and I wanted to recreate that experience. Earlier this week, the restaurant even called to confirm both the reservation and that the booth was reserved for us.
When we arrived, as we were being led upstairs, the hostess casually said, “Oh, and sorry, we couldn’t make your request happen tonight, we’re a bit busy,” and then seated us at a table right beside the railing. My partner’s chair was directly next to the drinks cart which is a high-traffic and not a very private spot. This was frustrating, especially after confirming the request days earlier.
What didn’t make sense was that the team had my phone number. If they knew the booth wouldn’t be available, a quick call earlier in the evening to offer a later time would have been totally fine. Instead, having it sprung on us at the last second and being placed somewhere a walk-in might be seated felt really disappointing.
We were then moved again by a manager to what was described as a “great private booth” downstairs, but it was right beside the kitchen entrance and it was cold there. By this point, the mood for the birthday dinner had already been killed.
To be fair, the food was excellent and the kitchen did a fantastic job. We got the beef carpaccio, the calamari, the beet salad, a NY Striploin steak and fries and they all were very tasty. We also ordered two of their signature cocktails which also tasted great. But the service made us feel like an inconvenience on my partner’s special night, and the way the seating mix-up was handled completely killed the vibe we were hoping for. What should have been a celebratory evening ended up feeling awkward and overshadowed, despite the amount of planning and confirmation that went into it.
Just as a comparison, we celebrated my birthday at The Botonist a couple months prior and the entire experience was leagues better than here as they actually made the night feel special with their great service and attention to detail.

Gianna was an absolutely amazing server. From the moment we sat down, she made us feel welcome and taken care of. She struck the perfect balance between being attentive and giving us space to enjoy our meal. Her menu knowledge was on point — she had great recommendations, knew the steak cuts inside out, and helped us pick the perfect sides.
What stood out most was her genuine warmth and professionalism. Drinks were always refilled, plates cleared quickly, and she checked in at just the right times. She made the whole experience feel smooth and elevated.
If every server were like Gianna, every dinner out would feel special. Would 100% come back just for her service.

I booked a reservation for our anniversary several weeks in advance. The restaurant called a few days before to confirm the details. We were seated quickly and I was delighted to see a hand written card for our anniversary. I love our table as it was up on the second floor next to the railing and had great view of the bar and dry aging room. Our server Ryan, was very prompt and friendly and the Rhubarb Sour was a standout. The table-side Caesar salad was delicious as was the cowboy ribeye. The sticky toffee pudding was a great way to end the meal and I really appreciated the butter cake with the anniversary message. All in all, a wonderful restaurant to celebrate a special occasion.

We had our company Christmas party at Black+Blue recently and the service was fantastic. We booked the semi-private 'Tobacco' room and chose one of their holiday set menus for the night. We had 13 people and a baby as well, and the servers were so friendly and funny. The servers accommodated a few of our requests by allowing us to order the tenderloin on the mushroom risotto, and we walked away thinking 'wow, that should be on the menu permanently!' It was so good. The sticky toffee pudding was a highlight with our group too!
I think the only improvement would be better climate control, but I can see how this would be hard with so many people coming in and out and different guests wanting their spaces cooler or warmer. All in all, we had a lovely time!
Had a group lunch with some of my staff and a customer for the Holidays. Food was fantastic and the service was as usual exceptional.
