Good food but service VERY slow - waited over 20 minutes for a panini

Good bakery but unfortunately during certain times of day the place is filled with rude people camped out with their laptops for hours leaving newly arriving customers nowhere to sit.

Woke up too early due to jet lag and happy to find a cafe just across the street which is open with lots of fresh bakes. I can’t say they have the best coffee or bakes and customer service (not rude, just not overly friendly like some other places, which is perfectly ok for me) but it is a nice comfy spot to chill before dawn breaks.

BEST CHOCOLATE CROISSANT I HAVE EVER HAD! 10/10 recommend. Fresh food and the matcha was good but could’ve been more strong. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to get some quality baked goods and desserts. However, I wouldn’t recommend for socially anxious people since it tends to get very busy and loud during breakfast/lunch hours.

Breka Bakery has amazing bread, cookies, and cakes which are fresh and great quality. The place can get a bit warm and busy inside.

I leave this with a heavy heart as I usually don’t like posting bad reviews and Breka holds a special place in our hearts as we’ve been frequenting Breka and really like the pastries.

However, not sure if it’s just this specific Breka but the coffee tastes like water here and they even turned off Wifi to deter people from staying (a modern day cafe with no wifi seems pretty hostile to customers?).

Breka Bakery. Ate pastry here. Well organized for the large crowd. Order at the counter and wait for the order unless it’s a pastry. We had a quality muffin and a croissant. Both were quite good. A good place. We are planning to return.

Serious food safety concerns. The strudel was delicious, but could be improved by not including human hair in the product. As much as I want to like this place (they are doing a lot of things very well), the hygiene issues are too big to ignore.

Unbeatable hours... came in for a coffee after a nice dinner, never been before, ended up getting some pastries and treats too. For a place that is open 24/7 the food is fresh even at night, the latte I got was well made and tasted great (and fresh). The prices are quite fair for what you get. These Breka places are awesome! I'm glad I made a spur-of-moment visit.

When we arrived around 12pm, it was insanely busy. The line was to the door, and there were no seats available at first. The food selection was enormous, but the quality was hit or miss. The highlights for us were the mango passionfruit donut and honey cilantro chicken wrap (both from their summer specials menu, however, and might not be there when you go). There are other items that caught our eye and we would try next time. M really enjoyed the Hedgehog mocha. The staff were very helpful. After we sat down and took a bite of the wrap, we realized they had given us the wrong wrap. They exchanged it with no fuss. The bathrooms require a code to use; you can ask the staff for the code. We ate at several other cafes in Vancouver, and, while this was our least favorite, we would give it another chance.

2025.08.22 Their Kalua Chocolate Mousse is too sweet for my taste, it needs to reduce the sugar, IMHO.

2025.08.15. This small Vancouver chain Breka scores high on my list for dark chocolate desserts. Ultimate Chocolate Ganache Cake [Vegan] wins on a decadent, flavourful, rich, sophisticated taste. No dietary restrictions allowed, enjoy life, enjoy your senses of taste. Do limit yourself to two small bites, chew each mouthful ever slowly, enjoying the intense flavors. Put the rest away in your refrigerator for a future decadent tasting session.
