Breka Bakery & Café - Sunrise (E Hastings)

Went to this café to order a grilled cheese sandwich expecting the hype as it’s Breke chain, Extremely disappointed sandwich was cold

So hard to find a seat here at all times of the day.

Should have no laptops zone like west 4th. So people can enjoy quick coffee and go.

We recently tried Breka Bakery’s strawberry shortcake and pistachio brownie crunch both were delicious and not too sweet, which we really appreciated. I used to love their mango coconut mousse, and these new desserts are just as impressive with great flavor and texture. Don’t miss their chocolate-dipped almond cookie and coconut macaroon, too equally amazing and perfect for a sweet treat.

I was cravings for sweets in the middle of the night, and this is the only bake shop open 24hrs which is amazing! The chocolate croissant with almonds, and strawberry new york cheese cake is rich, and it’s absolutely good! Worth driving and I’ll surely come back to try for more.

People always sitting in groups with one drink a table for hours. There's never a table available becuse people want to bring there while office work or school work there. I just wanted to eat or drink for five minutes. But always end up pouring from ceramic cup to takeout. Always went disappointed

One of the few coffee shops open along Hastings during late hours past 11 am. Place was quite busy which I’m sure is attributed to the fact that such few coffee shops are open this late.

Got myself a nice chocolate donut and drink.

We come here a lot and always enjoy the food, courteous and quick service, but I'm here writing this because the Matcha Basque Cheesecake ruined my life. It's the most delicious thing I've had at Breka since the strawberry panna cotta. 10/10 it is amazing. I hope they keep it on the menu.

Some of the pastries and sandwiches at this café are great—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The food is definitely the strong point and usually doesn’t disappoint. It’s the reason I’ve come back more than once.

Unfortunately, the overall experience is held back by two issues: service and consistency. The staff can sometimes come across as rude or unfriendly/uninterested, which makes the atmosphere less inviting than it should be. A café is usually a place where you want to feel welcome and comfortable, and that energy just isn’t there.

On top of that, the drinks are hit or miss. Some days they taste great, but other times they’re watered down or just not made the same way. Also sometimes food is forgotten unless you remind them, which makes the experience feel careless.

If the service were friendlier, orders handled more attentively, and drinks made consistently, this café could easily live up to the quality of its food. As it stands, the food is worth it but the experience doesn’t quite measure up.

I love their food selection and their menu. However sandwich always comes out soggy, and the sitting area is terrible. Not comfortable for your back at all. Change these 2 and this cafe would be my favorite .
