Valentine's dinner at Burdock was one of the most disappointing special‑occasion meals we've had in Vancouver, and we would not return for a celebration. The wine experience started the evening off poorly: the list felt surprisingly limited, with almost no meaningful focus on local wines, and nothing about the selection or guidance felt curated for Valentine's. Service was equally underwhelming; we were served by five different people over the course of the night, so no one ever really owned our table, and the pacing and communication felt disorganized and impersonal. The food did not justify the hype. Presentation was minimal and uninspired, and a couple of dishes gave the impression of being reheated or not freshly prepared, with off textures and uneven temperatures. More than one plate felt like a mishmash of expensive flavours that sounded good on paper but didn't come together on the plate. Overall, the evening lacked the polish, consistency, and sense of occasion we expected, and it ended up being memorable for all the wrong reasons.

As soon as I heard they are doing dine out for this year too, I got excited and booked for dinner. Overall, the food was good, nicely balanced flavours and very fresh. Portion size was small. A bit questionable if every meal were connected to Australian theme but they tried and I can see that. Only disappointing part was a service. I asked for wine, they forgot. It happens but I excepted the server to say at least “sorry”. They served one of meal without the utensils though they came back with spoons quickly. They took water pitcher away, didn't come back with new one. Also, whenever we leave table for washroom, no napkins holding??? These are very small tiny stuff to care about but that makes restaurants top notch. Since the food was good, the restaurant can make improvements, so that the price of the course ( usually $160ish) is worth enough to try.

The Chef is unbelievable. The food is incredible. The service levels and knowledge of staff is top notch. We have been to Burdock and Co a number of times and it is consistently fantastic. I would say that this last time was perhaps a little under-value for the price, but it is hard to complain about something as wonderful as the dinner experience here.
Our experience was 1st class from start to finish. Both the service and food were well beyond our expectations. We chose the premium wine pairing experience and every course was paired to perfection. Keep doing what you are doing. We will be back.
