The place is so cozy and inviting that I decided to stop for lunch. I started with a strawberry lavander lemonade, it was deliciously refreshing. I decided to order the burger with poutine instead of fries. This is by far one of the best burgers Ive had in a long time. The poutine was amazing, full of flavor, the fries were fries to perfection. The chocolate mousse was so delicate, smooth, and rich. I will definitely come back.

The jambalaya was mostly rice. There was only half a piece of sausage (the round end bit), and two bites of chicken. Thankfully the shrimp was cooked well, but I wasn’t happy to pay $30 for mostly rice. I’ve eaten here in the past and enjoyed the dishes. The prices were always high, but now it’s silly expensive.
Unfortunately, everything here was just okay. The food was edible and I did finish it but I would not reccomend it. We tried the jambalaya and the grilled cheese with tomato soup and maybe we were just unlucky with out orders, but regardless I would probably not come here again. At least the beer was not bad.

One of the worst meals I’ve had in a long time. Not fresh, very lack lustre. Vegetarians - good luck. Vegans forget about it. Very surprising for a restaurant that’s been open so long. Servers did a great job but it doesn’t sound like management listens to their feedback from customers.
Props to my boy Arjun greatest french onion soup felt like I was in paris

We were looking for a Happy Hour spot with an outdoor patio near UBC’s Point Grey area—and found this hidden gem - Burgoo at Point Grey!
Burgoo has several locations around Vancouver, but this one feels especially cozy and central. We’ve always enjoyed their sandwiches, and this visit didn’t disappoint.
The Chicken Pesto Melt with kale Caesar salad was absolutely delicious—my go-to favourite and still highly recommended!
We also explored their Happy Hour menu, which offers a great BOGO deal on starters (2 for 1):
• Pierogi – Cheesy potato dumplings with smoked sausage. Bite-sized and packed with flavour!
• Garlic Shrimp – Sizzling prawns with blistered tomato served with toast. So tasty!
• Chicken Karaage – Crispy and well-seasoned. Slightly dry but still enjoyable.
• Dicky’s Dumplings – Hearty pork and shrimp dumplings. Great texture.
We ordered the Fresh Mango Cooler (non-alcoholic) to pair with our meal—super refreshing! We also enjoyed the local draught beer at the outdoor patio.
Whether you're a UBC student, local, or just passing through, Burgoo at Point Grey is a great spot to hang out.

The grilled cheese was delicious, while the kale salad and tomato soup were just okay. However, I have to mention that the lobster mac and cheese was extremely disappointing. The lobster was canned and flaky, macaroni soggy and clumped together in an unappetizing way. Considering it was the most expensive item on the menu, it felt like a complete letdown, bordering on a scam. Unfortunately, it was genuinely unpleasant.

Ordered the pulled pork Mac and cheese to go. Was done quickly and they were super generous with the pulled pork. Big chunks of meat not just a few bits with some bbq sauce like a lot of places. And they drew this freaking adorable cat on my bag which made my day when I noticed it half way through my walk home.

I have been there before and today was the second and not the last time. I really like and recommend lobster bisque (soup plus 1 of 3 salad). Also I’ve got a meatballs and Parmesan fries. Happy hours stars at 2 pm and you can get 2 starters with just 1 (bigger or same ) price. So I’ve got 2 starters for 11 cad. Really delicious foods.

I dropped into Burgoo for a bite to eat and to work on writing my next book. Not only was I pleasantly surprised by how great the food was, but Mikayla, the server, was an absolute delight to speak with—warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. Her energy added a touch of brightness to my afternoon, making the experience even more enjoyable. The cozy atmosphere and thoughtful service made it an ideal spot for both creativity and comfort. I'll definitely be coming back.
