Great cafe in the neighbourhood and was much needed. One of the ladies working there is a bit grumpy, she might need an extra smile.

Went after soft-opening ended. Atmosphere was okay but it was very crowded with limited seating.
I ordered an einspanner latte to sit down and drink but the barista gave me the drink in a togo cup. Coffee tasted mediocre, whipped cream didnt melt at all, needed to ask barista for a spoon to eat it. It was very overpriced considering the serving size was very tiny.

We are very excited to have a cafe in the area and during our visit we got a matcha croissant, a cuppa tiramisu, and their hojicha latte. The croissant was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. There was a very light and thin sweet glaze on the croissant and the flavor of the matcha was very potent. The tiramisu came in a cup, hence the name. In Chinese culture it's often said that our highest praise is, "it's not too sweet." and that perfectly applies to the tiramisu. The drink had a chocolatey note to it and was very pleasant to drink. Service was fast and personable. Their selection of pastries were plenty and would love to go back and try more.
One piece of feedback would be that we felt that there was not adequate seating. Although there were about 10 two seat tables, we saw that there was some empty floor space around a bigger table that could definitely be filled up with more seating. We don't know if it's because of capacity limits but we had to sit outside on the bench to eat. Would definitely come again and would love to see patio seating in warmer weather!!

Was really excited to try this place out, left satisfied.
Space is really nice, could use some more seating though as I feel likes they can squeeze in more people.
The baked goods as the highlight, corn cheese egg tart is a MUST. I had the cereal brownie and chicken teriyaki sandwich which were both pretty good.
I got a matcha strawberry latte, nothing special but good. Next time, I'm going to try that einspanner.
One note I will say is that the worker seemed to be alone and stressed out, and I felt it thorough the interaction. Wasn't rude but also wasn't super friendly. I didn't mind but for those that are sensitive, that could be a concern.
Will be coming back to try some more things.

Cup is like baby size, taste average, overpriced. Good if you just want a sip.
Pastry tastes pretty good.
Seat setting is a bit awkward to me, the store has decent size but the seatings are very isolated and small. Music choice is ok.

Absolutely stunning cafe around the corner. So many beautiful baked goods and unique drinks, all presented in such a classy way. Love classic cheese cake, blueberry cake. Like all the lighting, enjoy the music and various cute accessories throughout the store. Took one cookie home to taste tomorrow. Will go again soon for sure.
Came back on November 16th, 2024.
Congratulations on the grand opening. They have more variety than in soft opening period. I bought pecan financier, matcha croissant and cereal cookie with a latte. Pecan financier is just right with sweetness and crispy texture. Cheesecakes were a gift to my friend and she loved it. There are many customers standing and waiting for their ordering, but all in good order. The store is planning to add more tables to meet the demand. ??

Service was horrible and the wait for my drinks took longer than expected. There was no help finding a seat and tables were dirty. I asked one of the workers to help clean and she gave me a condescending response. I really wanted to like this place and come to study but to my surprise there were no outlets.

Cafe Algan is a welcome addition to our local coffee scene, bringing a beautifully minimalist theme to its decor. The cafe offers a spacious environment with plenty of seating, ideal for socializing or simply enjoying a peaceful moment alone.
While the coffee meets standard expectations, where Cafe Algan truly excels is in its bakery section. The bread and cakes are simply outstanding, each offering a burst of homemade flavor that can’t be missed. It’s a fantastic place for anyone who appreciates great pastries and a relaxed ambiance.
Definitely a must-visit for those seeking a new favorite spot.

Tiramisu expensive but delicious. Flat white impeccable. But here’s the thing that gets me. They have 6 tables and when I stepped inside, 2 were occupied with couples staring at their phones and not acknowledging each other or their food, and the rest were occupied by computer/tablet campers. There’s a sort of a long bench on the left of the till, those were the only people interacting but also still on their phones. The world is a sad sad place and coffee shops like this one aren’t helping. Definitely not a place I’d come back to no matter the quality of goodies/drinks. Also this is basically a niche to the demographic of the area, if you know what I mean (which explains the parking shit show right outside with expensive cars blocking the street parking exactly where it says you can’t park). A few suggestions would be make better use of the space, definitely more tables can be added and on some of them add notes about limitation of computer/tablet use, but I still wouldn’t come back.

I really wanted to like this café, but I would say it was overall quite disappointing. They are however new so I hope in the coming months they are able to settle and improve. They do look promising, so I hope that happens.
However, currently, the latté creation is not up to par. Not sure if it is just the barista that day... Given that they seem to have a quite decent machine- Slayer-pretty cool looking. We ordered a vanilla latté and a regular latté with regular milk, but they came out more like cappuccinos. The regular latté also came closer to a 10 oz than 12oz. This would partially explain the poor foam quality. The barista definitely needs more practice with her steaming technique. She was also somewhat rude. For one, I think it is important that she can see the milk she is steaming- is there a vortex? It seems like she is trying to determine this by listening only- possible if one were skilled. Interestingly, it is obvious by the sounds of the milk that she screwed up at the beginning, so I knew early on our coffees would not have the silky smooth milk texture desirable in a latté. Unsurprisingly, she was unable to create decent latté art. A stick was needed to manipulate the design. Appreciate the effort though. The flavour profile is alright. Not sure what beans they use but it tastes somewhat like Pallet espresso beans.
In terms of the pastry, they look decent. However, choices were limited by the time we arrived. We had the Cereal brownie and Biscoff cheesecake. They were okay but nothing I would come back for. The Biscoff on the cheesecake tasted a little old due to its level of sogginess. It was also somewhat off-putting that they don't have a glass/barrier in front of their pastry or a box to contain them...it feels somewhat susceptible for contamination.
What I love most about this place is the space, however seating is limited, so it isn't ideal in that way. Music was decent- Christmassy and loungey so not disturbing if you wanna chat with a friend or do some work.
Overall, I may give it one more chance maybe in the new year- when pictures of better looking lattés appear, but for now, I would not recommend this café if you are looking for a decent cup of specialty joe.

I visited Cafe Algan during their soft opening (Oct 30 - Nov 13). This is a very nice place but I was bummed to learn there is no WiFi. When I inquired, they mentioned they do not offer Wi-Fi at the cafe. If you are planning to come here for work/study and you need WiFi, keep in mind this cafe has no internet. Besides this, I did enjoy their baked goods (almond croissant and scone) and americano as takeout.
Edit: They are now officially open and confirmed they don't offer Wi-Fi :(

I live above this cafe and have been waiting for literal months to see if they were open. The owners are really sweet and even let me come in with my dog! I'd highly suggest the "Cafe Algan" which is reminiscent of a Vietnamese Coffee and the Almond Croissant. Glad to see them so busy during their soft-open, definitely needed this in the area!

TLDR: overhyped by social media. Not worth the trip.
I went to the cafe around 2:30pm on a sunday. All the tables were taken but the counter was empty. No one was lined up and I waited for around 5mins before someone noticed me. When he did noticed me, he seemed very annoyed that I was making an order. Like it was an inconvenience for him. The same can be said about the baristas who were making my drinks. They seemed like they didn’t want to make it. I deliberately checked the time to see when the cafe closed because I would understand the annoyance if it was close to closing but it wasn’t.
