Food was excellent.
Simple and high quality food: Kale salad was amazing; burrata was as good as it get and the pasta was the star of the show. Fresh pasta with a rich sauce… just delicious. Wine and coffee to help wash it down was also excellent.
Not cheap but would absolutely recommend if quiet & quality dining is your goal.

I had a pretty underwhelming first visit to Café La Tana a few months back, but after coming in again recently, my view has completely changed. The atmosphere is still as inviting as ever, but everything else—from the greeting to the service and food—was genuinely excellent this time.
Ordering from both Café La Tana and Pepino’s menus was a big plus.. tons of options for bigger portions or slightly smaller so you’re not limited, and it opens up a lot of variety. The deep-fried risotto balls from Pepino’s were very satisfying to start with, and the shrimp scampi and gnocchi (with those crispy breadcrumbs on top) were standouts. The risotto was unreal.. rich, creamy, really well balanced. I was impressed by the quality, especially knowing the pasta is handmade in-house—a detail that’s getting rare these days and honestly deserves some recognition.
The cocktails and wine were genuinely good, and everything felt much better than before. service was warm and attentive without being over the top.
Overall, this visit was a 100% turnaround from my last one and way more representative of what Café La Tana is about. Based on my experience, I’d say my first visit was just unlucky. Happy to recommend it now and looking forward to the next time.
Thanks to Beth for making the experience even better.

We had a fantastic experience at dinner here last night. The service was absolutely spot on. Both Jess and Gustavo who served us were excellent hosts and made the time we were there very positive. The food was some of the best I’ve had for a long time. The portions are not massive which allowed my wife and I to share a few different things and get a really nice mix of their menu. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special evening out.

Cozy and warm atmosphere. Food is excellent, fresh, unique options. Doesn't look like much from exterior yet worth it when inside. Easy parking on the street.

We stopped in for a quick drink before our reservation at another restaurant. Decided to get a little snack too. We shared a mixed platter of starters, absolutely delicious, some pork belly, something with dates, it’s all kind of blur - but there was not a thing on that platter that was weak.
Paired beautifully with Aperol Spritz(or two)
Wished we’d have just stayed for dinner here.

A must try if you love Italian food and sharing food and experience with friends. We did family style with a nice bottle of lambrusco. The food just kept on coming. Everything they ordered for us was incredible. To finish it off, three types of desserts.

Another delicious Italian spot such a great find! It's connected to Pipinos. The menu is on the smaller side, but everything we tried today was amazing. The burrata with focaccia bread was wow and so fresh and flavorful. The pasta was cooked just right with the perfect texture and taste. I’ll definitely be back.
The space is cozy but not cramped, which made for a comfortable dining experience.

I really wanted to like Caffe La Tana, so I went for my birthday dinner, but the experience was honestly terrible. We waited over 30 minutes for a single pasta dish — no explanation, no updates, nothing. When I finally asked what was going on, the waitress just shrugged and said, “I can cancel it if you want.” No apology. No effort to fix it. Just complete indifference.
It felt like they couldn’t care less whether we stayed or left. For a place that tries to present itself as refined or thoughtful, the customer service was anything but. No warmth, no hospitality, and definitely no urgency.
Vancouver has way too many great spots to waste time and money here. I won’t be coming back.

I have been here a few times for lunch and it is perfect every time. The last time I had the three courses of salad, pasta, and dessert. Each dish was perfectly flavoured, and the timing of the service was just right.

We had the most delicious freshly made pasta and dessert! Their seasonal menu is pretty unique, with fresh ingredients. Complimentary focaccia is also amazing. Ambiance is cozy and relaxing, just a bit small - which adds to the charm of the Italian experience. This dining was great experience for our anniversary celebration!

I have been here twice with friends mainly for dinner. The space is intimate due to it being a little bit of a smaller space. But it gives a beautiful Italian fine dining experience. The food is always amazing and definitely great portions. I always love to hear their seasonal specials as they’re always unique and different.
