Suren Persian cuisine Grill + Bar

Third visit to Suren on West 4th and every time meal has been excellent. Lots of great flavours. Very diverse menu so something to suit everyone including vegetarian and GF. Drinks are also great. Located on corner of West 4th & Blenheim so lots of free parking on the street. The building used to be Castaway. Staff very friendly and dishes reasonably priced. All that’s lacking is more clientele. Can’t recommend enough. I’m sure if you visit once you’ll return. Also excellent options for Happy Hour. Golshid, our server, was so friendly and helpful. Try it out!

I’ll start by saying the main courses were delicious and authentic; unfortunately, that was the only high point of this evening. The waiter took 1.5 hours to get our main out after we ordered. We ordered ice cream for dessert, and it had ice chunks the size of a peanut in it. Finally, when it was time for the bill, it was another 45 minutes for the waiter to get the bills split and to us. This was not entirely the waiter’s fault, as he was serving a party of 25 at the time. However, it was really interesting to see the owner stand at the bar and do literally NOTHING, as this poor waiter ran around trying to service multiple parties and our table kept waiting for the bill. The food we got was not worth the horrendous service.

Thank you so much for your prompt and detailed response. We sat down at 6:30, got food at 7:29, dessert at 8:47, and our bills at 9:37 after going back and forth with our waiter multiple times.
We did in fact bring our concerns to your attention at the restaurant. There was a gentleman standing behind the bar who was not assisting anyone at the time. Once we shared that our table had been waiting for quite some time, he referred us to the same waiter who was serving another big party, and proceeded to continue watching instagram reels without assisting us.
I want to reiterate that our server was wonderful and doing his best given the circumstances. However, if you scroll through other reviews, you will see that this experience is consistent amongst other reviewers.

My partner and I regularly order delivery from this place and they are so nice and the food is always delicious!

We were a group of 30 people with reservations, but they set up the tables in a way that would be useful for 20 people, and the other 10 people were moving around!
They weren't able to handle so many customers, and that’s why their service was horrible!

Newish to Kitsilano we had an incredible dining experience here for dinner tonight. Service was great and the place was so spacious and beautifully decorated. We never felt rushed and it was a great space to sit and enjoy conversation and a great meal.

My husband and I both got cocktails that were delicious. I got the Hawaiian cocktail, which was very easy to drink and fruity and fun. My husband got the old-fashioned that had a saffron twist on it. He really enjoyed it.

We each ordered a main dish and the meat was tender, tasty and juicy.

The chicken tachin was so interesting and looked like a baked quiche but is crispy rice with fragrant chicken inside. My husband and I got delicious kebab dishes. I loved my lamb kebab and the rice, grilled tomato balanced the meat. The side salad was refreshing.

The portions were quite big but we came hungry and were able to just finish them all and leave room to share one dessert which was the faloodeh with saffron ice cream. It was a very interesting dessert with vermicelli noodles, saffron, rose water. Very fragrant!

We will be back to try way more on the menu!

We were out for a walk and saw this restaurant..service was great and we really enjoyed the food..very authentic..we will go again..very happy!

Recommended dishes: Calamari

Visited a few weeks ago. The bar area and dining room are nice but while the booths are nice, they seem to be repurposed and aged. I would have changed these or at least upholstered better because it takes away from what you’d expect for a new restaurant. Service was fast, mind you we were the only patrons there so I can’t speak to it if it was a full house. The coke was watery, koobideh was alright but the kabab torsh was not up to par and I did comment to my partner that perhaps the lowest quality I’ve had in Vancouver. It seems to have been made with low quality pomegranate paste as it tasted quite synthetic and not fresh. Overall I stand by a 3 star review. I’ve heard great thing about their first location but won’t be returning to the West 4th location. This seems to be the case for restaurants in Vancouver, second and tertiary locations often miss their mark because not enough business acumen and perhaps business planning to refine processes to ensure quality as owner’s time and efforts become stretched.

We chose Suren Catering for our wedding, and we (and all our guests) are more than happy and satisfied with the quality of food, finger food, deserts, the cake (unbelievable). besides, the service was great, fast, nice, and clean. They are highly recommended for your events.

The food was phenomenal! Price was reasonable for the quality of the dishes - I had the lamb torsch(sp?) which I’d definitely order again. Order the calamari ! Prob one of the best calamari we’ve had, which came w some battered califlower and mushrooms.
We are huge fans of Sahel and this is just as good, slightly different variations.

This restaurant is amazing omg! I just moved here from Montreal and I tell you I couldn’t find a single restaurant with good Persian cuisine. This restaurant even surpasses the good Persian cuisine level. I ordered Kebabs and omg the meat was so tender and delicious. And I a bit sensitive about smell of meat but in the food I ordered there was no problem with the smell. On top of the food quality, they packaged the food so nicely in a way that I was about to have tears of joy! They even wrote my name? Delivery of the order was fast and I was super happy about the service! Definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone and all the Persians!

The restaurant's design fits perfectly with the Kitsilano area. Everything is beautifully and tastefully done. We had a minor issue during our order, but they addressed it in the best possible way, exceeding our expectations.

It was our first time to their Vancouver branch, restaurant is so pretty, they have a cool bar, it’s perfect for gatherings and events, staff is friendly and professional, koobideh was delicious but kabab torsh could be better

We went to Suren Tonight, we tried a lot of their menu and everything taste really good. Very kind and helpful host, with special thanks to Siavash and Nadia. They are relatively new in a not so crowded area, however, I am sure pretty soon they will be very busy.
