This was our first visit and likely our last. We came specifically for the braised spring cabbage pork rib soup, since braised spring cabbage is such a traditional Chiu Chow dish. Unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing. The photo I took actually shows one of the very few pieces of spring cabbage I managed to find in the entire pot. The pork rib tasted unpleasant and unfresh, so we had to give up on it. What remained was an oily broth filled mostly with mustard greens and bland turnips. At $24.80, this was very poor value.
On top of that, a Chiu Chow dim sum restaurant is expected to serve sticky rice buns as a signature item — yet this place didn’t offer them at all.
The only positive note is the atmosphere, which is pleasant. Sadly, the food and authenticity fell far short of expectations.

Very disappointed with the service. The staff at the front didn’t greet me, didn’t say thank you, and barely handed me my order. No communication and very unfriendly attitude. It really felt like they didn’t even want to serve customers.

Very authentic choliuchow style food, reviewed by Chinese. If you'd like to try some real Chinese food, safe place to go. But owners are really busy, need to hire more employees to serve😂

Long established restaurant but changed hands many times. Worn out furniture, dirty and old carpet, old fashioned decorations, unpleasant environment. Food is hot and tasty, small dishes and not cheap though. We two reached there at 10:30 am on Thurs. 5 tables of clients only. Restaurant Manager’s was rude and no service, long face the whole time, no greetings. Servers were good though. Refilled tea pot frequently. Server preprinted receipt even we sat down for 30 mins only, because 15% discount if pay bill by 11 am. This is good. But I won’t come back even they offered 3 hr free parking, due to uncomfortable environment. I would rather go to Grand Crystal Seafood Restaurant at Crystal Mall next to Metrotown Centre, so far, they worth the money spent, 3 hr free parking, bigger dishes, more varieties and really tasty.

Recommended dishes: Chiu Chow Dumplings
The waiting time for the food was negligible, and everything was nice and hot.
Of the dishes, the steamed pork soup dumplings (xiaolongbao) was definitely the highlight. I was a bit disappointed by the steamed black sesame paste lava bun - it was okay, but with less filling than I had anticipated.

I have been to this location for dim sum but not under this new ownership - ChiuChow. Our family heritage is not from ChiuChow, so we are not familiar with ChiuChow food. However, we are regular at Sungiven and one staff told us that the dim sums were very tasty, so here we came!
And we agreed the dim sums were great! We ordered five.
1) Pineapple char chiu bun. Were unexpectedly good. The filling made the bun so round and full, and the topping was crispy.
2) Steamed rice rolls with beef. Its portion was shockingly big. Rolls were very smooth and the amount of beef was pretty generous too.
3) Steamed black sesame lava bun. I had never had something like this before, and the running black sesame paste was very satisfying.
4) Pan fried radish cake. I liked it when there were still small chunks of radish inside, adding both flavour and texture to this classics.
5) Steamed bamboo rolls with abalone sauce. This was not something I normally would order, so I could not have much feedback, but it was refreshing and did not taste too overwhelming.
Overall, service was decent. We were seated at more discreet area as per my request. I was asked if I had high chair for my infant, but we did not need it.
Something we appreciated about this place was, tables were quite spread out. We felt more safe and secure with an infant.
Heard this place was expensive. Perhaps it was regarding dinner. Dim sums were not bad at all in terms of pricing. The bill was a touch over $60 before tip.
We would definitely come back for dim sum again.

We had a wonderful experience trying authentic Chiu Chow cuisine here! The 蠔餅 and 蠔仔肉碎粥 were absolute highlights — full of flavor and comforting. The atmosphere felt very homey, and the service was warm and welcoming. Definitely a spot to enjoy hearty, authentic Chiu Chow dishes!

I think this place is way too underrated, especially compared to the older dim sum places in Vancouver and Richmond. I really liked the pea and shrimp tofu skin, the texture a layers of flavors is awesome. The chicken feet is also great the best I’ve had so far. The shrimp dumplings are average but the shrimp fried spring roll is very juicy. This place is on the pricier side but if you finish before 11 am you get 15%off so I guess that makes up for the higher price. The furnishing and environment is definitely better than the dim sum places in Richmond. I really value a good environment so this place is the best so far. Will be coming back

Don't come here if your family has high blood pressure. Ordered
the set dinner @ $888. Every entrée was over salted to the point that it was not bearable to eat.
Please turn on the air condition, don't be cheap.

I came here for a family member's birthday and one side of the restaurant was having an event hosted by a travel agency. The issue was that the event was super loud as they were making speeches with mics going through speakers that extended throughout the entire restaurant. There was no division and no consideration of other guests. We could not even chat among ourselves because the volume from the mics were so loud; it was unbearable. I asked the waitress and the lady who seemed like the manager if they could have the volume turned down and I was brushed off, saying the speeches will be done soon. It was well over an hour with half hour break, then restarted again. I'm highly disappointed that they did not even try to respond to my request and help make it a bit more comfortable for us and our celebration.

Had a good dinning experience with them, the staff was very nice and it was my mum’s birthday, they even sing a birthday song for us. The pork liver was insanely good! It was just cooked to prefect texture. But other food was just average and the congee was a little bit too salty. They have high chair but no seat belt and no kid Cutlery. Overall I love my experience last night so I gave 5 star. Food was kind of expensive tho so won’t go very often. Free parking is nice too!
