My friend told me this place is famous for its Hainanese chicken rice, so I came to try it — and it was really delicious! The chicken was silky smooth, and the seasoning was just right. The fragrant oil rice was amazing too.

The restaurant is small and a bit old, but it’s clean and cozy. I went around 4:00 PM and saw that they were getting quite busy — looks like it’s a favorite among the locals. Definitely worth a visit!

I went today with my family, and we had a very good experience until the end. When we finished our meal and payed, one of the waitresses had the audacity to follow us out and asked for an extra $10 tip. Mind you we payed over $100 in cash and even tipped them already… she legit wouldn’t leave us until we gave her the money. We gave her $2 instead of the $10 that she asked because my mom told my sister to just pay her. My dad was vividly upset.

I don’t write reviews often, so this says a lot. It’s safe to say we won’t be coming back anytime soon.

the roti was light, crispy, freshly made. sauce was watery.
Laksa soup was disappointing, the broth was thin, and noodles were badly overcooked.
not sure if we'll be back to try other dishes.

We ordered whole chicken for take out. We found out that many pieces were missing. We phoned the restaurant and they said it was a whole chicken. These are cheaters! Beware, everyone!

I ordered the chicken rice at this place and was really impressed with the portion size. It is very generous. The chicken soup that comes with it was also flavorful and comforting. The service was excellent. We originally planned to order two chicken rice dishes, but the server kindly suggested we get half a chicken instead. It turned out to be a better deal in both portion and price.

The only downside is that some parts of the chicken had bones, which made it a bit harder to eat. Still, overall it was a great experience with good food and friendly service.

Got takeout — a whole Hainanese chicken with rice for $50. A bit steep, but a sign of the times. The chicken was tender and flavourful, and I enjoyed the ginger–green onion sauce, chilli sauce, and fresh cilantro.

Had a Hainan chicken set today — it came with half a chicken and three portions of chicken oil rice.

The meal started with a bowl of goji berry chicken soup, which was truly comforting and tasted like a warm memory from home.

Unfortunately, when the chicken arrived, I could already see that about 80% of it was quite tough. The rice was mostly chicken oil rice, with a small portion of plain white rice mixed in.

By far the best Hainan chicken rice in Vancouver, believe me I have been searching since we returned to living here after 25 years in HK! City 1 has the chicken poached to perfection and the rice was incredibly flavourful. We did a takeaway so only had interaction with the lady who took the order and she was pleasant and helpful. We are definitely coming back to try other items on their menu. The decor is nothing to rave about but the food is what’s important here! Also ordered the salt & pepper tofu - great taste! Highly, highly recommend if you love Hainan chicken rice! My only teeny, tiny gripe is no ginger paste dipping sauce and thick soy sauce but the green onion and red chili sauce are included.

My friend recommended as her mom frequents this hidden gem. The beef curry was very tender, enough for one person. Authentic tasting although I've not been to Singapore or Malaysia. Hainan chicken is their other popular dish. Perfectly done
, tasty rice and chicken broth soup is yummy. Will have to come try other dishes. Everything is expensive out there expect to pay$20 before taxes and tip per person.

I was ordering a takeaway for my Hainanese Chicken. After I placed my order, I stood at the counter for a moment and the woman at the counter told me to wait outside the restaurant when the place was half empty. And she was so sarcastic with her tone of speech tbh she was getting on my last nerve. The chicken is pretty nice but don’t expect good service.

I had the hainamese chicken set for $15. It came with bowl of soup, 8 pcs of boneless chicken ( very thin)though, and a bowl of yellow rice. The soup was pretty good, the chicken was pretty tasty but very small. There was only one waitress, and she got unclean tables all over. I walked in around 1:30.

The chicken was tasty but it could have looked better. I would be happy to come and eat the upgraded chicken!
