I am so sad to hear this little gem is closed. 😭 It was the best food, best view and wonderful folks, I wish them the best. ❤️

I'd been walking past this deli for 25 years but never went in before. Today, as I was walking past, I noticed that the building this deli is located in was all boarded up and looked like it was going to be torn down. I felt a bit nostalgic as I remember what it used to look like when I was a kid. There was a Scottish store and many businesses tenanted there. Times are certainly changing, and now the entire building was vacant - except for the Cottage Deli. I felt compelled to finally visit before it disappeared as well. I was greeted by a very pleasant older gentleman. I ordered a Clam Chowder. The place has 2 levels and has a very homey vintage feel of yesteryear. The chowder was satisfying and was prepared with care in a homemade style . I exchanged some words with the owner and thanked him for being there for 30 years. In a city where our childhood memories are rapidly disappearing, places like Cottage Deli are becoming more and more rare. Let's enjoy them to the fullest while they are still here.

Great place for a skip and sandwich. Lovely view of the harbour and the trains.

The only thing worth mentioning is this place is old and rundown. It definitely needs a fresh coat of paint, and some lipstick.
Other than that, the older gentlemen that run it are very nice, and the food is always consistent

We loved our meal here, we stumbled upon it by accident and saw it had great reviews and it lived up to it. The lentil soup tasted homemade and was really enjoyable.

Cottage Deli is a hard-to-find, family owned Deli. It's tucked down an alley and up some stairs. You overlook the railroad and train cars.

Food offerings are very basic such as soup and salad. Food hits the spot. Prices are reasonable. Staff is fast and efficient. Had it's own deli charm. We enjoyed it

One of Vancouver’s few hidden gems left in Gastown. Affordable home style café food & atmosphere, with a reasonable view.

Vegetarian options: Bagel w/ cream cheese, and other veg friendly sandwiches (maybe soups depending on the day).

Kid-friendliness: Calm atmosphere with inside & covered outside seating.
