We are huge Pho fans. On a recommendation, we tried Crab Hot Lau on Kingsway for a Northern Vietnamese take on Noodle soups and spring rolls. They make a good house special beef pho but we also tried something completely different…a Field crab red rice noodle (Banh da) soup dish that took us beyond the traditional Pho experience. Was fun to try a different Vietnamese regional cuisine. If you are a crab fan, this place would be a small culinary adventure for you.
The restaurant interior is very impressive, the prices as fine, and the service is good…a special thanks to My Thanh for her very excellent service and attention.

There's a huge selection of Vietnamese dishes, some of the type of dishes and ingredients are unique to this restaurant chain.
The service of the young staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful.

Food was excellent. I would've easily given the food 5 stars but I feel like the service was so phenomenal that it needed to exceed the food score. The (head server?) My Thanh, I asked for her name, I would say that she is the spoon that stirs the pot. Very knowledgeable and knows how to push us to ordering dishes that she knew we would enjoy. (So good that my mother thought she was the owner.) The other servers were great aswell.
Food was very tasty, the broths were so flavorful that I had to ask them whether or not to afford sauces to the soup. We were advised not to, and glad we did not alter the taste.
We will be back with other family and friends.
Thank to the staff for a great experience. My 8 yo daughter ask when we can go back to see them again.

You are better off saving your money and going to Vietnam for food. When trying to order drinks, the waitress kept pointing to the iPad which froze and I couldn't even order a diet coke. She never came and asked if we needed anything. When we had questions about the menu the waitress kept pointing to the iPad. Why have a waitress at all?
The food was okay but if you had an afternoon and can follow a Youtube tutorial, you could have made that kind of food at home for $20. We spent $225 with tip for terrible service, and lackluster food.
It's true that these middle.ofnthe road places that claim to be a specialty restaurant are really not worth the time anymore. Either go somewhere cheaper with the same quality food or pay a little bit more for better food and service.
The atmosphere was like a dentist office mixed with a LSD party.

When for lunch hearing good reviews and we love Crab - soup, hotpot, rolls or any style. Was disappointed with the service first, they weren't very helpful with making a selection. We let them know it was our first time there. The food wasn't that good, nothing special. The crab spring rolls - disappointing

Excellent food: tasty and large portions. Very busy (full) on a Saturday around 7. Service was friendly but we didn't realise you could order online from your table and there was a button for calling the server.

We've stopped by again since going for this reservation. Pricing looks a bit higher from just the menu alone, but when you arrive and see the food quality, variety and volume it's quick to see the value matches. Great food, friendly service and we'll be making this a regular place to stop!
I gatekeep a lot from the people i know irl but not this northern vietnamese restaurant, everyone deserves to come try every single item on their menu, and that is coming from a northern viet born and raised and super picky eater.

This place is fun. The diners are enthusiastic and talking loud at family style tables. There are comfortable booths along the side. The cooks are obviously skilled, flavours and style bring me back to when I lived in Vietnam 25 years ago, so delightful. Since Mr. Red has departed east van this is our new go-to. Wonderful.

Already felt like home visiting this place for the first time, I was blown away by they staff’s hospitality. Food was spot on, really authentic, as good as what you could expect what a real taste of Vietnamese crab soup is.
They also have house-made “che”, a traditional Vietnamese sweet dessert, using all natural ingredients 🤩
Can’t recommend enough! You gotta give it a try folks! Thank you co Aimee, co Thuy and co Ngoc for the wonderful experience!!!

Crab Hot Lau has a wide variety of excellent Vietnamese dishes, probably the best overall in greater Vancouver. The signature square crab spring rolls are superb.
