Since I don't want to delete my previous review, I would like to add about my most recent experience:As a dedicated patron of Delara, my recent visit left me feeling quite underwhelmed. We eagerly ordered the Ghalieh with rice and Sabzi polo mahi for our main courses. However, upon the arrival of the Ghalieh, we expected the Sabzi polo to follow promptly. Unfortunately, it did not, and as the food grew cold, we reluctantly began our meal, finding the ghalieh to be absolutely delicious, deserving of a 10/10 rating. Regrettably, my husband's Sabzi polo was significantly delayed, and when it finally arrived, the rice was still undercooked, requiring another 10-15 minutes to become palatable. In reflecting on past experiences, I couldn't help but wish that the owner had been overseeing the kitchen to ensure such issues were promptly addressed. On the other hand, our server failed to check on our satisfaction until it was time for payment, and when we voiced our concerns about the rice, her response was polite but lacked attentiveness to our concern. Despite this disappointing experience, I hope that our feedback will be taken seriously to prevent similar disappointments for future patrons.******10/10Went there with group of foodie and very picky friends… and guess what?! Everyone loved their food!! Not even a single negative feedback! (We have already planned to re-visit at least once a month)Quality was GREAT, taste was AMAZING and service/servers were VERY FRIENDLY. Also their kitchen is open concept so you can see your plate is made with so much LOVE and PASSION!I am not exaggerating if I tell you this was the most satisfying Persian dining experience I’ve had in Vancouver for the past 15 years!!I would like to congratulate their whole team for showcasing the food and culture in the best way possible! THANK YOU!

My favourite place in Vancouver forever, I was married to a Persian for a couple years, and the only good thing about him. It was his culture, I adore Persian cuisine and has become part of my life. This place really brings up the best of the history of the cuisine at its finest! I absolutely adore the staff and the food it’s made with love.

Amazing food and service but I was really upset that they put two living fish together in a tiny vase as a decoration. It was really off-putting and cruel that they aren't taking care of the fish. Used to be my favorite restustant in Vancouver but I'm not sure I'll be back.

I ordered Fesenjoon with duck - it was incredibly sour and I felt sick after eating it. I know this is a very tricky dish to balance due to the mixture of pomegranate paste and walnuts and sugar. But this is possibly the worst fesenjoon I’ve ever had. They also didn’t ask how the food was and even after I gave them feedback about how bad the food was, they just said it was batch made so nothing can be done.

Yesterday I went to Delara with my family for the first time. From the moment you enter the place, you get a good vibe from the atmosphere. However, the good experience ends there. This restaurant does not serve Persian food. It could not be named as the cuisine of the region either cause it had no spices. The food was overpriced for the portion and the taste. We ordered the “Gheymeh” which I am not sure why they had called the dish Gheymeh when it had NOTHING similar to the dish. It’s like going to a “Modern American” restaurant, getting mac & cheese and not having mac or cheese in the dish lol.We also ordered the barberry Mimosa which was basically mimosa with 5 pieces of barberries in the drink. It was not blended or tasted like barberries at all.To sum up: DO NOT waste your money and time and dine somewhere else. At least you will leave not feeling hungry and disappointed.

Delara has long held the crown as my go-to dining haven, a place where I've savored lunch and dinner delights over twenty times in a single year. However, it's with a heavy heart that I've observed a noticeable decline in both service and culinary excellence in recent months.Gone are the days when the menu's changes sparked excitement; now, they seem to be nothing more than mundane, repetitive tweaks. The once vibrant and distinctive flavors, particularly of the beef Ghalyeh, have unfortunately faded, leaving a dish that lacks its unique character. Moreover, the floor service has become disorganized and inefficient, to the extent that our dining experience was marred by the simultaneous arrival of starters and main courses, compounded by lengthy waits.Despite these challenges, my belief in Chef Bardia's extraordinary talent remains unwavering. I am convinced that with a renewed focus and dedication from him, Delara can recapture its former glory and continue to enchant diners with its exceptional culinary artistry.
