I don’t patronize Denny’s very often; in fact, the last time I visited one of these restaurants was back in August 2019 during a layover in Quesnel. Reflecting back, I’m not sure why I don’t visit these places more regularly. The food is usually quite good, especially in relation to the price paid. I think part of the reason for my lack of patronage is basically what I’ve called the “Burger King problem;” that is to say, I like the food, but they (in this case, Denny’s) just aren’t as widespread as, say, McDonald’s or some other popular chain. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! In any event, I’d intended to patronize the Denny’s on SW Marine Drive for some time – because it’s one of the last places my dear friend Renegade225 reviewed before vanishing – and learning of its impending closure only served to strengthen the impetus for doing so. I learned, reading an article in Vancouver is Awesome, that this 50 year old location was slated to close on 26 December 2022. Why? Well, to make way for more beautiful condos, of course! That’s such a shame. My partner and I visited this Denny’s on 19 December, which also happened to be during Metro Vancouver’s unprecedented snowstorms. We had about 3.5hrs before our flight to Victoria; thus, we decided to come here rather than enjoy the fine dining at YVR. For a 50 year old establishment, this Denny’s looks to have been well cared for. It was clean (less the muck on the floor from peoples’ snowy shoes) and festive. We were promptly seated at a comfortable booth. As we were perusing the menu, I received a notification from Air Canada that our delayed Victoria flight had subsequently been cancelled. Rather than get all huffy about things well beyond our control, we took this as an opportunity to indulge and enjoy this unit of Denny’s before its eventual closure. As such, we ordered slightly more than originally anticipated: Berry Vanilla Crepes, side of Bacon, Chicken Wings, Nachos, Plate Lickin’ Chicken and a Strawberry Milkshake. We might’ve went a little overboard, but we took our time – since we now had all the time in the world – and surprisingly managed to finish everything we ordered. And, I have to say, everything was tasty, piping hot and vintage Denny’s! Denny’s “zesty nachos” have always been a favourite ever since my time in Prince George. Loaded with Pepper Jack, cheddar, seasoned beef, pico de gallo and sour cream, these “cheap” nachos have always hit the spot – and it was no exception here! We made quick work of this messy, but delicious dish! Likewise, the buffalo chicken wings were good, though the presentation was slightly different when compared to a few years ago at another location. And who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner? I used to do this all the time when iHop occupied the space next to Richmond’s Accent Inn hotel. In this case, my crepes hit all the right notes: They were thin, uniform and came with a generous serving of strawberries and cream. Finally, my partner’s Lickin’ Chicken was surprisingly delicious! The boneless chicken breast was fried to perfection and topped with a healthy serving of country gravy. It was crunchy on the outside but juicy and tender on the inside. The accompanying veggies were nicely grilled and gave a nice “pop” of colour to the plate. In short, Denny’s isn’t fine-dining, but it’s damn good food! I’d be remiss if I failed to mention the service. In brief, it was prompt and efficient from start to finish. We were served by Annie, who’d previously worked at the now defunct 1296 West Broadway location (closed in 2018 to make way for – you guessed it – condos). We did not ask what the workers at the SW Marine Drive location would be doing after the closure, but I would assume most or all will be moved to the nearby Richmond restaurant on St. Edwards Drive. At days end, this review is much more of a reflective piece than anything else. By the time this write-up gets posted, the SW Marine Drive location will probably only be open for a few more hours – and the odds of someone reading this and saying, “hey, I’d better go there!” b

Denny is really great place for midnight craving. Its my to go place for food after 12 amHeres some history i found on internet about dennys, if you are intrestedDenny's was founded by Harold Butler and Richard Jezak, who opened Danny's Donuts in Lakewood, California in 1953.[4] In 1956, a year after Jezak's departure from the 6-store chain, Butler changed the concept, shifting it from a donut shop to a coffee shop with store No. 8. Danny's Donuts was renamed Danny's Coffee Shops and changed its operation to 24 hours. During the 1950s, Los Angeles architects Armet & Davis created a new prototype building with a boomerang-shaped roof that became a model for stores built all over the country.

Came here last week for brunch and service was quick. Food came in less than 10 minutes. I asked to substitute my eggs for toast (eggs make me sick) and after the waiter asked around, he said yes they can do that. Once I got my bill, I realized they charged me an extra $2 for the toast without telling me. Experience was 5 star quality until the end.

Moons Over My Hammy FTW. Sundays can be pretty packed and parking is very difficult to find. But for good reason: Denny's got good eats! When I was born, my parents brought me here as soon as they were discharged from the hospital. This place is over 40 years old and has been an institution in my Marpole community. SO SAD that it's closing in December 2022!I hope they reopen in the same location once they tear it down and build a gigantic tower in its place.Kid-friendliness: Kids menu that doubles as activity booklet with requisite crayons.

After 2 hours being stuck in traffic, I stopped at Denny's for bite and to let te traffic die down. It's been at least 10 years since my last visit to Denny's. Had a butter chicken skillet and a coffee. The skillet was surprisingly good. Coffee was meh. Service was really good.

One of the benefits of an all day, sky ticket is that it enables you to dine at different locations. This Denny's was only a short walk from Marine Drive Station. We chose Denny's because of their all day breakfast options. We both chose the All American Slam and they were really delicious. The service was very friendly and we didn't have a long wait. The menu had the usual choices including burgers, chicken and steaks. Another good feature of Denny's is the comfort. They have a large amount of booths.

Very convenient place to grab some late night food. Brunch items are also available to order. Portion is big and price is fair. Alcohol is also available.

This is a very "family" restaurant we frequent over so many years, from its W. Broadway location to the Marine Drive store to its Richmond store. In particular, it's the warm welcome from Ms. Juvie, who used to work at the W. Broadway store. We have received excellent services from Juvie on numerous occasions. You really feel at home with her bright smile and her amazing ability to memorize all your orders and special requests regardless of the group size!Seasoned and long term serving staff are at the heart and soul of this "homey" restaurant!

Food was good today. However, the menu was DIRTY( sticky Oreo milkshake residue) and sticky and ketchup running down on the side of the ketchup bottle on table 6. Hope that will improve soon and invite back in the future.

Went to Denny's with my friend to redeem her birthday grand slam meal and the waitresses, Chelsea and Juvie were absolute gems!! Chelsea was super sweet and attentive when taking our orders and she made sure we had a really good experience when we were there. Chelsea went above and beyond and got her coworker Juvie to surprise my friend with a really cute fruit bowl with a candle on it so they can sing happy birthday to her!! It was the absolute cutest thing my friend and I have ever experienced. My friend and I can really tell that the crew members at this Denny's location are all about giving excellent customer services to their guests. In general, everybody at this location was super sweet and caring. I definitely recommend coming here!! The food was really good too and it came out relatively quickly!! Definitely will be coming back again in the future just because their customer service was top tier <3 Thank you to the crew members at the Marine Drive Dennys for making my friend's birthday such a memorable experience !! <3
