We have been going to Dockside for years. The place seems to have slipped a bit. Not as good as it used to be. Some portions, especially the main dish and fish/seafood items, were very small, almost appetizer size. Doesn't have the same "ambience" , feels much more like a hotel restaurant, at least more than it used to.
A special place for a special occasion - scenery is great, servers are attentive, food is delicious/well priced and since there were not too many people at that time, I would say "not noisy"!
I never give bad reviews, but the food, and our waiter, were absolultely horrible. I've been to Dockside in the past and thought it'd be nice to take my sister and niece who were visiting from the states. What a disaster! We got a cheese platter my neice wanted. Breton crackers (think Costco), chunks of unknown cheese, a few dried pieces of fruit. No meat. We shared appetizers. Shirmp overcooked but garlic sauce was decent for bread dip (that's really all we could eat). Got Beef Kofka? and it tasted like the worst, most dry ground beef you ever ate. Unpalatable. The cesar and grilled veggies were White Spot level. The host or manager for evening tried really hard to make up for it, but the waiter was no where to be seen. I will go there again. This was not a one-off thing - everything was bad.
The food was delicious and reasonably fast and the view is spectacular. Kudos to the staff! The only down side is the difficulty of parking on Granville Island on a Saturday morning. I will come again, but maybe next time by bike.
I don’t usually write reviews, but tonight’s experience was disappointing enough to warrant one. The service, food, and overall experience didn’t match the high prices on the menu. If you’re coming just for the view, then yes it’s beautiful. Unfortunately, that was the only highlight of our evening.
We were celebrating, but the service felt more like what you’d expect at a casual pub. Our server seemed disengaged, and despite our attempts to be understanding, it was clear they just weren’t interested. Drinks took far too long to arrive. A bottle of wine sat at the bar for a while before making it to our table, and I ended up skipping a drink altogether because of the delay.
As for the food, it was underwhelming. The calamari and linguini were decent, but nothing memorable. The carpaccio was average, and the sushi rice was hard and clumpy. Oddly, two people ordered the same dish, but one looked carefully plated while the other looked like it had been thrown together.
All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you’re fine with waiting for drinks while enjoying the view because that’s really all it has going for it.

Food is of good quality but lots of oil and a bit salty. Service is great, but the tables arrangement and sun shades on the side are not optimum.

We went to Dockside after a really long time with my wife and all her cousins and a really great dinner on the patio. The server was quick to accomodate us after someone cancelled their reservation last minute. The food was great and the new menu had so many options to choose from. Our server Jason did a great job of bringing out all the food fairly quickly even though it was busy night. The best part of the night was the Dubai Pistachio Cheesecake. Will definitely come back to try other options on the menu.

The culinary offerings and service provided were exceptional.
We are pleased to note the availability of halal options and will certainly recommend your establishment to our family and friends 🧡.
Not my usual practice to leave a negative review, but I feel this one is necessary.
From the outset, my experience with this establishment was deeply disappointing; not only in terms of service, but also communication, professionalism, and overall tone.
My first interaction was with a front desk staff member who was noticeably curt and dismissive with an abundance of attitude and horrific communication. Hoping for a resolution and professional approach, I was transferred to the general manager, “Alicia?”
Unfortunately, she mirrored the same dismissive attitude, if not worse. Her tone was short, impatient, and frankly rude.
As the saying goes: It’s not always what you say, but how you say it. Speaking arrogantly or down to others is never acceptable especially in hospitality.
I was simply inquiring about reservations for a very special occasion: celebrating 30 years together with my husband, 17 of them married. Instead, I was met with a dismissive comment: “Umm, we’re extremely busy right now, I’m just going to have to terminate the call, okay?”
It was insulting and unexpected. When the manager finally came on the line (with my husband and three children present on speakerphone), she seemed even more frustrated, justifying her tone by saying they were “overwhelmed and busy” and ended her excuse with, “yeah, that’s it, it is what it is.”
I took the time to explain that regardless of stress or busyness, it’s never acceptable to treat customers with such disregard.
This experience left me truly disappointed. I had looked forward to dining here to mark a meaningful occasion, only to be made to feel unwelcome and disrespected. We decided to dine somewhere else and it was spectacular!
Life lesson: No matter how well you think your business is doing, how you treat people matters. Respect and kindness go a long way. Treat others the way you’d want to be treated.

We had a hotel block for our wedding with the Granville Island hotel, the hotel was great but Dockside was awful. First they could not reserve a spot on the patio for our family dinner on the Thursday prior which was fine we just went somewhere else.
But second, they actually lost our 30 person brunch reservation for 10am the Sunday after the wedding and refused to respond to us for a whole week before our wedding. They blamed a change in management for losing our reservation but wouldn’t even accommodate a new reservation saying that they already had too many reservations for that morning and tried to charge us over $30 per head for pastries, fruit and juice and seating in a separate area when a full meal at their regular restaurant is the same price.
The kicker is I went into the restaurant on the Sunday because my parents were eating there and the restaurant was empty. There were maybe a handful of tables seated at 10am. The service at this place is absolute garbage, the new management is just turning away business. I would not recommend this place

Worst service ever
I have been there last week, we had the Kofta skewers, beef carpaccio and the provençale, they were just delicious, the seating in the terrace takes to another world and the servers were just fantastic we will definitely go back

Went to Dockside Restaurant for my birthday dinner with my husband and a friend. I ordered the shrimp pesto linguine which was delicious. My husband had the Margherita pizza which was also very good. My friend ordered the Poke bowl, which was the saddest Poke I've ever seen. There was brown lumpy stuff on the plate that was supposed to be guacamole, but it looked terrible and tasted as bad as it looked. It had gone off, and it should never have been on the plate. We complained, and the server did take it off the bill. Wine was $22.50 per glass! I did get a complimentary dessert as it was my birthday. I don't mind paying the high prices if the food is delicious, and you do pay for the setting and view, but I won't go back. The server was very good; no complaints there.

I came with some out of town visitors for lunch.. I will say the food, atmosphere, views were all 5 star but the service was unacceptably slow. It was Thursday at noon and only half the restaurant was full. There were no customers on the patio and it appeared to be fully staffed. We were seated immediately with no wait, right in the middle of the restaurant, but it took 15 minutes before anyone came to take our orders, I had to wave down a server. Food and drinks arrived quickly enough once ordered, but nobody ever came to check on us or ask if we wanted more food (we only ordered appetizers) or another drink when our glasses were empty, twice more I had to flag down staff from another section. When our food was finished we waited for the bill, another server finally came by with dessert menus but nobody ever came back to take our orders lol. Lunch for 3 people took 2 hours (I know this because of my parking app reminder). I finally waved down another server for the bill and decided to have dessert in the market instead. All that being said, all of the staff including our servers were friendly and nice, but there is something very broken when it came to service, at least that day in that section. I'll come back to give them another chance as everything else was great, but it's really unfortunate I could not give the restaurant a higher perfect score.

Appetizers: Their version crisp-fried calamari is soggy, the crispy chili chicken is chewy, wagyu beef carpaccio is ok.
Mains: peppercorn-crusted strip loin (medium rare), beef is medium rare, asparagus served with the tough stem, mushroom is ok.
Presentation? We were informed that kitchen is very busy, but for the food to come late and not very pretty, disappointing. See photo of the main.
Dessert: Dubai Pistachio Cheesecake - taste is sublime, missing gold leaf as per advert.
