Fantastic Dine Out value for interesting, beautiful and delicious meals. Pleasant service. Will return.
From presentation, taste, and service, my experience here was exceptional. There is clearly a lot of heart and thoughtfulness with the menu. This is a place I'd love to go to regularly.
Dine out 2026 - overall all dishes were delicate, thought put into plating, service was slow.

My wife has wanted to try Don for nearly two years. For her birthday this year, I wanted to do something special, so I made a reservation a full month in advance. We plan ahead for things we care about, and this was meant to be a meaningful evening.
On the day of her birthday, we drove almost an hour into Kits, only to be told as we were being seated that the restaurant was serving a Dine Out menu only. No à la carte options were available.
This was deeply disappointing and felt like a breakdown in operational planning and communication.
First, forcing participation in a fixed menu without any flexibility is unusual in Vancouver, even during Dine Out. Being told, in effect, that your only option is to accept the Dine Out menu or leave is not a great guest experience, especially for a pre booked special occasion.
Don is also not a restaurant that normally operates as a tasting menu only experience. We had specifically chosen it because of the à la carte menu and had several dishes we were excited to try. Discovering at the table that none of those options were available made the situation even more disappointing.
Second, and more importantly, there was no advance notice. I booked one month ahead and received multiple OpenTable and text reminders. Not once was it mentioned that the reservation would be limited to a Dine Out only menu. This would have taken moments to communicate and would have allowed us to plan accordingly. Instead, we found out only after arriving and being seated.
We raised this with our waitress, who was kind and apologetic and spoke with the chef or owner. She came back to let us know that nothing could be done. This was clearly not her fault and she handled it professionally. The issue was with management decisions and communication.
The result was that my wife and I were left frustrated and scrambling. We were hungry, cold, and an hour from home. What should have been a special birthday celebration turned into trying to find another upscale restaurant willing to accept a last minute walk in or reservation, which anyone familiar with Vancouver dining knows is rarely realistic.
What was meant to be a long anticipated and special evening ended up being stressful and disappointing. I am sure the food and service would have been great under normal circumstances. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and flexibility left us with a very poor experience.
This was our first time dining here and were delightfully surprised at how delicious the dishes were, it is a fantastic Asian fusion restaurant. Thank you to the chef and whole team of Don at Kitsilano for a wonderful dining experience!
Fabulous atmosphere and fun sake/cocktail list! We will be back.
Amazing service, the food was really good, especially the salmon tartar and the osmanthus dessert! The server and chef were incredibly polite and helpful, definitely passionate about their restaurant and the food!
Ridiculously overpriced for mediocre food. Everything’s plated like it’s meant to look impressive, but the flavors fall flat, all style, no substance. Charging these prices when the chef doesn’t grasp what actually makes food taste good is just insulting.

The food and service are good, but the portion is quite small. Also the it's quite loud. And it's quite pricy.
The restaurant is small but cozy with lovely modern decor. It could be a great date spot but because of the high ceilings and small space if there is a large group it can be very loud. Not really something the restaurant can help. I loved the acrylic poured tables and all the pace settings. The server was friendly and knowledgeable, even though there was only one server for the whole restaurant she was prompt and attentive. The food was beautifully presented and wonderfully delicious. The rice is flavorful and all the ingredients are perfectly prepared. Every bite was super yummy. It is a bit pricy for the portions but I appreciate the portion size so you can actually have appt, main and dessert and the quality is worth the price. The price point changes it from a regular spot to a special occasion venue.

For the price, it’s only edible, not “wow” in terms of taste. But the customer service was really nice.

We went on a Friday night at 6pm with reservation, we ordered Tiger prawns, pork cheek don, grilled octopus, seafood congee, and crème brûlée. Food was delicious but the portions are on the smaller side. Overall, the vibe was great but because we were sitting right beside the kitchen, all my clothes and hair smelled greasy after.

We came here for a Christmas dinner with high expectations given the $150 per person price tag, but the experience ultimately fell short. We were seated about 10 minutes past our reservation time, along with several other groups, which already set a slightly disorganized tone for the evening. The food itself was only average. Despite being an 11-course Christmas menu, one of them is just tea. And one dish was also sold out, which was surprising considering this was the only menu offered that day. While some dishes featured premium ingredients, they lacked flavor. Additionally, our server knowledgeable about the dishes. Overall, the meal did not live up to the price or the expectations of a special holiday dinner.
Food was great but the service was only adequate. Waited 20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, and server was not very knowledgeable about the dishes and drinks.
