We took our son here for his birthday, had reservations. It was a nice touch they had a birthday card for him. We all ordered appetisers and a main. Service was extremely slow and disjointed, our one son got his appetizer and we waited 20 minutes for the remaining 3. Same thing with main course, a different son got his main and we waited over 30 minutes for the other 3. Really unacceptable, as it is polite to wait until everyone is served before eating. They did give our birthday son a dessert, which was nice, but unfortunately it didn't make up for the poor service. Food was presented well. The beef cheeks tender, cant comment on the poutine because it sat for 30 minutes until my son got a fork and we got our mains. Wouldn't order the salmon tartare again. Lobster bisque was good.

A fantastic find! My husband and I reserved a table here to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. The staff was incredibly lovely and the food was amazing. One chef in the open kitchen and he had no problem keeping up with orders. When we arrived, we had a nice hand-written anniversary card waiting for us and they even gave us a dessert of our choice on the house to celebrate. I ordered the salmon belly rice bowl and my husband ordered the congee. Everything we had so beautifully presented and delicious. Thank you for a lovely experience!

Honestly really good. So good in fact that I'm surprised that it wasnt that busy. We were able to get a walk in for two without a wait on a Saturday evening.

The BEST Japanese dining experience in Vancouver – hands down!

Don at Kitsilano absolutely blew me away! This is, without a doubt, the best place I’ve ever tried – and I’ve dined at some incredible spots around the world.

From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the beautifully designed interior – a perfect blend of modern elegance and authentic Japanese minimalism. Every detail, from the lighting to the tableware, has been thoughtfully curated to enhance the dining experience.

The food? Absolutely top notch. Every dish was a masterpiece. The ingredients were fresh, the flavours were delicate yet rich, and the presentation was stunning. You can truly taste the precision and passion behind every bite. Whether it was the melt-in-your-mouth sashimi, the perfectly seasoned rice, or the umami-packed broths – everything was flawless.

What truly sets Don apart, though, is the service. Attentive, warm, and deeply knowledgeable, the staff made us feel like honoured guests. Every question we had was answered with care, and every recommendation hit the mark.

This isn’t just a meal – it’s an experience. If you’re a lover of fine Japanese cuisine, Don at Kitsilano is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return!

Tried this place out for a business lunch - my colleague and I loved the experience, and I decided to make a return visit on my own! Wonderful atmosphere and service, food is great and very distinct/stand-out on its own. Love the Howl's Breakfast and Pork Jowl -- looking forward to trying more dishes on future visits.

A MUST go spot. The restaurant and its dishes are absolutely stunning. The attention to detail in every aspect of the establishment is evident, from the elegant cutlery and thoughtfully arranged table settings to the details in the bathrooms. Each element contributes to a truly exceptional dining experience. Every dish was unique and the flavours were all there. We will definitely be back.

4.5 stars. Japanese fusion. Quite unique dishes. Unique and nice decor. Generally nice place best for lunch rather than dinner as it’s a small restaurant. Tried the salmon Tatar and salmon belly. Also the chicken which is just so so.

Great food and cozy environment. Perfect for a lunch date with your significant other. They're not too busy if you show up a bit earlier before the lunch hour starts. We love this restaurant

We went to their there but the wait list was too long so we decided to pick a place nearby. We decided to try this place and it amazed us. Ordered torched salmon belly and another dish that I forgot lol. But I highly recommend this place!

I’ve been to pretty much all of the restaurants in the area so I was excited to finally try this place! The interior is beautiful, and all of the dishes came out nicely presented. Our server was SO sweet and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Really nice addition to the neighborhood and I can’t wait to come back and try the other items on the menu.
