The 生煎包 sheng jian bao taste is on point with the taste at their restaurant in Shanghai. Everything else seems meh.
The original pork version of the sheng jian bao taste better than the shrimp one.

I've always wanted to try this place and finally had the chance last night. Unfortunately, it will be my first and last visit.

I ordered both the original pork and shrimp & pork pan-fried buns (8 pieces of each). The presentation was great, and my mouth was watering after waiting for about 30 minutes. However, things took a turn after my first bite. The shrimp one tasted surprisingly sweet, and I initially thought it might just be the shrimp soup. But then I tried the pork bun, and the soup inside was sweet as well.

The noodle with the sweet rib was decent.

The wine chicken was another miss for me—it just didn’t hit the mark.

I’m sorry to say, but based on my experience, I won’t be coming back.

Don't make couriers wait for 15 minutes and then tell them another 10 minutes, it's disrespectful ????

Delicious authentic Shanghainese cuisine. Don't be fooled by the low rating. The price is a bit high.

It’s not delicious and quite expensive. A bowl of noodles with three toppings costs 50 yuan including tip. The service attitude was very poor and the request for pepper was ignored.

A true hidden gem in Richmond. The low ratings on Yelp and Google don't do the justice. They serve the best Shanghainese food I've had in recent years. I recommend every dish we got.

Unlike some other Shanghainese restaurants, their food doesn't taste too oily or heavy. Our server was very friendly even we arrived close to their last order time.

I've been constantly searching for good sheng jian bao, and I found one that lives up to my expectation here. Each piece had a half-fluffy half-crispy texture, with a golden bottom and juicy pork fillings. The buns were made to order, so it came piping hot.

My second favorite was the scallion stirred noodles. It was a simple, humble yet fragrant dry noodle seasoned with dried shelled shrimps and scallion oil.

The deep fried pork steak exceeded what I expected -- the bread was thin while the pork chop remained juicy and tender. It had a crispier finish as the meat was thinly sliced.

I am not Chinese, but I was living in China for long enough to know how Shanghai dumpling should taste. I understand that recipe could be a little bit different from place to place However, Shanghai dumplings, or 生煎包, appearance, shape and flavor are pretty specific. Even in China, it’s not something that you can eat everywhere. For example, in the city I lived in Jiangsu, there were only 1-2 places where they cooked 上海生煎包. Therefore, in Canada, I sometimes miss those wonderful dumplings. Mostly, they are with pork inside. But for me, the best taste is when whole large shrimp is covered in pork inside the dumpling.
We live in Calgary and we’re not able to find good place with Shanghai dumplings. There is one place in Edmonton that is good enough.
Why when we were traveling to Vancouver, our must stop point was Dong Tai Xiang Shanghai Dim Sum. I was searching online and was not able to find Shanghai dumplings with shrimp and pork elsewhere in Vancouver . And I don’t really like only with pork.
The atmosphere was very similar to those small places where we sometimes had our dinner in Yancheng, China. It was nice to feel a little bit in China again.

To our disappointment, the dumplings were not what we expected. They looked the same, but not taste the same. The dough was kinda sweet and more like fried buns, not like Shanghai dumplings. And the most important part - Dumplings were not juicy at all. When you bite real Shanghai dumpling the hot broth splash around, that is how juicy they should to be….

I cannot recommend this place to anyone who really loves Shanghai dumplings and missed their taste. Try BaoBao in Edmonton.

As a Shanghainese, I think the food, though not authentic, tastes alright. However, the prices are ridiculously high—about three times those in Shanghai.

Also, since when did tipping become mandatory? If you haven't provided satisfactory or exceptional service, why should I tip you? It's unbelievable that the servers even ask for tips.
