I recently visited El Comal Mexican Foods and was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. The food was fresh, flavourful, and served quickly. The tacos had the perfect balance of seasoning and texture—nothing soggy, nothing dry, just delicious.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the place had a relaxed, cozy vibe that made the experience even better. Prices were reasonable, portions were generous, and you can tell they put care into what they serve.
I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended for anyone craving great tacos done right! 🌮✨

The service was very slow, even when it was not busy or crowded. The tortilla soup was only slightly warm and had no flavor. The strong smell from the deep fryer was unpleasant. The burritos were acceptable.

Actually the best fish tacos I have EVER had. Also got the quesabirra and a carnitas taco- both equally as amazing. I will be dreaming about the food here for many nights to come. The staff is also incredibly helpful, kind, and bring an energy that makes you want to just keep nestling into the good food and vibes. 10/10

We went here a few days ago, we were happy could have Mexican food downtown. The restaurant was really quiet, no guests after working time, only us were there. And the food was totally unexpected small amount, and eventually we went second restaurant to have extra food. It’s good for a light snack time, not recommended for decent dinner. That might be the reason why there were no customers.

Great Food, but Service Lacks
I recently dined at El Comal Downtown and had mixed feelings about my experience. The food was absolutely fantastic – each dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. Clearly, the chefs know what they're doing, and I left satisfied with the meal.
Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Upon arriving, I was seated and left waiting for over five minutes before anyone came by with menus or to take my drink order. It was disappointing to see such a delay.0.
While the cuisine is worth a visit, I hope the staff can improve their service to provide a more seamless dining experience. I would consider returning, but only if I hear that their service has improved.
Overall, great food but a need for improvement in service.

Very limited menu compared to what was online, server forgot our drinks, taco meat was cool inside and sauce container was re-used and dirty.

Today I went to El Comal for their buffet, and I thought it was really good and fair for the price.
Next Sunday, there will be other restaurants joining in to offer more variety.

We popped in for Sunday brunch. I thought the food was not appetizing at all. And it wasn't even that hot. For the price I would skip this place. Total fail and wish we would have gone somewhere else.

Restaurantji Recommends
Such a great location but I think it has more potential to be a quick order to go place for workers in the area. Vegetarian burrito was okay, I liked the guac the best.
Mediocre food. Tortilla soup was barely warm. Tacos were just ok, Horchata very nice. The smell from the deep fryer is nasty l, so your clothes will stink after you eat here. So many ppl rave about this place but it was totally underwhelming

Wow!
chilaquiles were fire!
The staff was very nice and the food was awesome.
I purposely ordered the eggs a little more on the easy side. They nailed it.
Coming back for sure.

Horrible Experience
We were greeted with an abrupt “hi” and a loud drop of the menus on the table — not exactly the warm welcome you expect.
The food was disappointing on every level: stale, cold, and unappetizing in both taste and presentation. What should’ve been a simple, satisfying meal turned into something we could barely touch.
The only redeeming qualities were the interior — which is quite nice — and the clean washroom. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
Overall, an unpleasant experience that I wouldn’t recommend.

This place is amazing. The All-you-can-eat buffet is totally worth. I've been in Mexico several times and is very hard to find here in Vancouver a place with a real Mexican flavor. Totally recommended.
